About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated web engineer to join our team. You'll be helping to drive Instacart’s growth, collaborating with other talented engineers, and working on core Order experiences that millions of Instacart users interact with every day!

About the Team

The Order Experience team is the driving force behind core systems powering users' shopping experience. Whether adding an item to their cart, selecting their delivery window, adding loyalty and discounts to maximize affordability, or placing the order itself, Order Experience systems are front-and-center! Our team solves complex technical challenges of scale and performance to improve user experience. Your work will directly impact the scalability, performance, and usability of these surfaces in a way that delights users and powers the next wave of growth for Instacart!

About the Job

  • Develop, design, and/or test mobile and desktop web software applications or systems
  • Lead complex technical or product efforts involving many engineers
  • Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers.Implement features and user interfaces to optimize performance of user-facing products.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of web development experience, with a strong record of project delivery
  • Proficiency in frontend languages and frameworks, Javascript and React
  • A solid foundation in software testing for web applications
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Holds a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the development of scalable e-commerce platforms
  • Deep understanding of web architecture principles
  • Skilled in the use of monitoring and observability tools like Datadog.

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here. Currently, we are only hiring in the following provinces: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

Offers may vary based on many factors, such as candidate experience and skills required for the role. Additionally, this role is eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants. Please read more about our benefits offerings here.
