Why This Role is Exciting
As a Technical Writer at AuditBoard, you will play a key role in ensuring that our internal and external documentation is clear, accurate, and up-to-date. You will work closely with Product, Engineering & Design (PED) teams, release management, and go-to-market stakeholders to produce high-quality release notes, internal product documentation, and developer resources that help both technical and non-technical audiences understand and get value out of our platform.
Responsibilities
Release Notes:
Collaborate with PED teams and the release management team to draft, edit, and publish internal and external release notes for new product releases and updates.
Ensure release notes are accurate, comprehensive, and published on time.
Maintain a well-structured release notes page to ensure users can easily find and review release notes.
Internal Product Documentation:
Support PED teams in drafting and maintaining internal documentation for PED teams, support staff, and other internal stakeholders.
Work cross-functionally to ensure internal product documentation reflects accurate and up-to-date information about features, functionalities, and workflows.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, digestible content for a variety of internal users.
Developer Documentation:
Support the integrations team in managing and improving developer documentation for APIs, integrations, and platform features.
Ensure developer documentation is easy to navigate, up-to-date, and comprehensive.
Review prospect and customer feedback/questions to continuously improve documentation and ensure it covers the most common use cases.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with stakeholders such as product managers, engineers, product marketing, the Help Center team, and other teams to gather information and ensure documentation consistently and accurately reflects new features and product changes.
Assist in identifying documentation gaps and propose improvements to enhance the documentation process.
Attributes of a Successful Candidate:
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a technical writer in a B2B SaaS or similar technical environment
Experience writing release notes and/or product documentation
Experience creating and/or improving information architecture within knowledge bases to enable clear structure, navigation and discoverability across content
Familiarity with Knowledge Base & CMS tools
Familiarity with technical documentation platforms
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of SaaS platforms and APIs
Experience writing API documentation
Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences
Communication & Collaboration:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, marketing, and support teams
Problem-Solving:
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
User-centric mindset
Nice to Have:
Domain knowledge of the Governance, Risk and Compliance space
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies
Familiarity with HTML and CSS
