Smart Contract Engineer

Job Description

Machine intelligence will soon take over humanity’s role in knowledge-keeping and creation. What started in the mid-1990s as the gradual off-loading of knowledge and decision making to search engines will be rapidly replaced by vast neural networks - with all knowledge compressed into their artificial neurons. Unlike organic life, machine intelligence, built within silicon, needs protocols to coordinate and grow. And, like nature, these protocols should be open, permissionless, and neutral. Starting with compute hardware, the Gensyn protocol networks together the core resources required for machine intelligence to flourish alongside human intelligence.

The Role

Design and build smart contracts that power ML compute coordination, incentives, and verification in the Gensyn protocol.
While our contracts are written in Solidity, we will also consider smart contract engineers with experience building in Rust-based ecosystems (e.g. Solana, Cosmos, Polkadot, Near, etc.), and can support a transition to Solidity.

Responsibilities

Design and implement smart contracts that orchestrate ML workflows and verification mechanisms
Work closely with protocol and ML teams to build secure, performant, on-chain/off-chain integrations
Own features end-to-end - from architecture through testing and deployment
Help shape architecture and tooling across the smart contract stack

Competencies

Must have

Production experience with smart contract development in Solidity or Rust
Deep understanding of blockchain programming models and smart contract design
Comfort learning new languages and working across unfamiliar codebases
Interest in building high-assurance, production-ready protocols

Preferred

Strong systems programming background (e.g. Rust, Go, C++)
Experience integrating smart contracts with off-chain systems or oracles
Familiarity with gas optimization, low-level EVM internals, or auditing practices
Prior work on distributed or decentralized protocols
Exposure to or interest in ML workflows or zero-knowledge systems

Nice to have

Formal verification experience or interest
Previous startup experience
