Position Overview:

Were looking for a Software Engineer to join our backend engineering function. At Xapo, we are building truly cross-functional teams with full ownership of design, architecture, building, testing, delivery, data, and operations. You will collaborate closely with fellow team members from the product, apps, design, and QA communities of practice. You will be part of the product team (we call them SATs, the Stream Aligned Teams, as in the Team Topologies) in charge of the Onboarding, Marketing and Customer Service aspects of Xapo products.

As a Software Engineer, you will develop a high-impact service, provide solutions with good practices, and play an active role in the Development Community of practice. You will collaborate in discussions about architectural and technical patterns used in the company to solve problems for operational teams, improve UX, and create a WOW effect in the eyes of our members. With that in mind, you will immensely impact the future of finance & crypto.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable backend services.
  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Work with operational teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the services your team owns.
  • Develop innovative solutions on the edge of tech & marketing.
  • Actively participate in the Development Community of Practice, contributing to architectural discussions and promoting best practices.

Skills needed:

  • Solid software engineering experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Python preferred) - Demonstrable experience with Python (Django/Flask) is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Microservices architecture and containerization Docker.
  • Cloud-native patterns, particularly around fault tolerance.
  • CI/CD pipelines and best practices.
  • Building and deploying scalable, asynchronous software.
  • Monitoring and observability tools and techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation and designs.
  • A passion for learning and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Genuine interest in Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency space.

Xapo Device Policy
Consultants joining Xapo Bank must comply with the Xapo Device Policy, which governs the use of corporate-approved laptops under Corporate-Owned, Personally Purchased Device (reimbursed up to $1,500) or Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled Device (personal device with enforced security controls).
All devices must meet security requirements, enroll in Xapo’s Mobile Device Management (MDM), and adhere to compliance rules. COPPD devices remain Xapo property with buyback options upon exit. COPED users agree to data control measures, including mandatory corporate data wipes.
Compliance with the Xapo Device Policy is mandatory for all consultants, onboarding will not proceed without adherence to the policy.
