Smartsheet is seeking a passionate Software Engineer II to join our Developer Productivity team. This is a critical role that will directly impact the speed and quality of our software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining test framework, infrastructure, distributed testing solutions, and pipeline automation that empower our engineers to ship high-quality code, faster. This role presents a unique opportunity to work on a modern technology stack while also tackling the challenge of modernizing our legacy test code and infrastructure. You will be a key player in our evolution towards a more efficient and reliable development environment that supports both our microservices architecture and our existing monolith. You will report to our Director, Engineering located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Build scalable back-end services for the next generation of applications at Smartsheet (Kotlin, Java)
  • Solve challenging distributed systems problems and work with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes)
  • Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions as you work with other software engineers and product managers
  • Mentor junior engineers on code quality and other industry best practices
  • Forge a strong partnership with product management and other key areas of the business
  • Actively use AI tools to improve personal and team efficiency across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting, exploring AI integration opportunities within team processes and features, and coaching others on effective AI use

You Have:

  • 2+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
  • 2+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Java, Kotlin or TypeScript
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
  • 6+ months professional experience leveraging AI to improve personal productivity in service of building complex SaaS feature sets
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity.

US Base Salary Pay Range
$120,000$157,500 USD
