Q - What did the Developer say to the DBA?
A - It doesn't matter, the answer is "No".

Enough with the humor! Let's get to the point. Our client provides enterprise-class managed data center services. They have around 70 datacenters servicing 29 different markets, and we can't disclose their clients – but think about any significant industry player from hyperscalers, banks, healthcare and social media platforms, and they're likely in their CRM. We're seeking a SQL Database Administrator to serve as their primary database management expert. In this role, you'll ensure the database systems operate at peak efficiency and security while supporting critical business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain SQL Server databases across all environments, from development through production.
  • Optimize database performance, security, and availability through monitoring and maintenance.
  • Implement robust data modeling strategies to meet system integration and performance requirements.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and end-to-end problem resolution
  • Develop and maintain automated processes and comprehensive documentation
  • Collaborate with developers on query optimization and database schema improvements
  • Coordinate and execute scheduled maintenance during off-hours (flexible working hours are coordinated if such needs arise)
  • Plan and implement disaster recovery strategies
  • Manage system updates and upgrades

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Proven track record as a SQL Server DBA
  • Strong background in database maintenance, security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery
  • Experience with database design, documentation, and coding
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities and algorithmic thinking
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience with database standards and end-user application

If you meet these qualifications and are ready to contribute your expertise to a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply!

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
