About the Role

DoorDash is hiring an exceptional Senior Counsel of M&A to join our dynamic legal team at a very exciting time for our rapidly growing business. You will partner closely with our Business and Corporate Development teams on M&A transactions and integration, as well as other corporate and investment transactions, and you will also provide advice and legal support on other types of strategic transactions and general corporate matters.

You will partner with teams across DoorDash, including Legal, Business and Corporate Development, Finance, Tax and Accounting to manage M&A and other strategic corporate and investment deals, as well as provide legal guidance and assist with administration of DoorDash’s business operations, corporate structure, and transactions. This role reports into the Director, M&A Legal.

  • Lead and support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, warrants and other corporate transactions through all stages of a transaction lifecycle, including assessment of potential targets, deal structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and deal execution
  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other internal stakeholders regarding M&A strategy, risk management, and execution
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, including definitive agreements, letters of intent, and ancillary documents
  • Work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams across the company on post-closing integration matters
  • Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to securities law, antitrust, data privacy, and other compliance matters that may impact M&A transactions
  • Provide support and guidance on other corporate matters
  • Effectively manage outside counsel, including the selection of advisors and coordination of efforts to ensure effective legal support during the transaction process
  • Contribute to the development of internal legal processes and best practices for M&A transactions

  • A JD and are admitted to any state bar
  • 9+ years legal experience in a law firm as well as experience working in-house as a corporate transactions attorney focused on M&A and investments
  • Experience with corporate transactions in the technology sector
  • The ability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work extended hours when necessary
  • A proven ability to balance legal risk and business objectives

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
