Vimeo is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Engineering Manager to join our growing Trust & Safety team!

As a Trust & Safety Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers dedicated to building and enhancing safety features and technologies that protect our users and platform. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Policy, and Operations, to develop and implement innovative solutions that address the evolving challenges of online safety. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a deep understanding of Trust & Safety issues.
This role may be exposed to disturbing and/or sensitive content.
What you will do:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining safety features and technologies that protect Vimeo users and the platform from online abuse, fraud, and harmful content
- Partner with Product, Policy, and Operations teams to define the roadmap and strategy for Trust & Safety engineering, ensuring alignment with Vimeo's overall goals and objectives
- Foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence within the team, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies and solutions to address complex Trust & Safety challenges, such as content discovery, content moderation, spam detection, and account security
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable systems that support Trust & Safety operations, ensuring high availability and performance
- Collaborate with research teams to leverage machine learning and other advanced techniques to enhance safety measures and proactively identify and mitigate risks
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of safety features and identify areas for improvement
- Stay informed about emerging threats, industry trends, and best practices in Trust & Safety engineering
- Mentor and develop engineers, providing guidance and support for their professional growth
- Contribute to the broader Trust & Safety community by sharing knowledge and collaborating with industry peers
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
- 8+ years of experience managing software engineering teams with a focus on Trust & Safety or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role
- 5+ years of experience with PHP is required
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
- Deep understanding of Trust & Safety challenges and best practices, including content moderation, spam detection, fraud prevention, and account security
- Strong technical background with experience in software development and architecture
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP)
- Familiarity with machine learning and data analysis techniques
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Passion for creating a safe and positive online environment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Bonus points:
- Experience with video streaming platforms and technologies
- Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., COPPA, GDPR)
- Contributions to open-source projects or industry initiatives related to Trust & Safety
Base Salary Range:
- NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles: $184,000 - $251,500
- All other US cities outside above metro areas: $165,600 - $226,350
