Sr Program Manager
Job Description
LOCATION: There is a big preference for this individual to live in either the Bay Area, CA or Austin, TX with the ability to come in the office once a week, but we are open to USA Remote as well.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We have an exciting Senior Program Manager opportunity to join the Program Management team in Research & Development. The Senior Program Manager provides cross-functional program leadership to launch new products or improve existing ones. They achieve this through the application of project management tools to drive high level collaboration and coordination with various business functions, track progress, and provide detailed status reports to management. Their function is essential to ensuring teams define and achieve the objectives and goals required to complete projects on time and budget.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads cross-functional program leadership to launch new products or improve existing ones with a focus on Design Control and New Product Introduction in a technical setting.

Drive high level collaboration and coordination with various business functions to facilitate the planning process, setting project goals & milestones, and creation of comprehensive timelines taking into account available resources, dependencies, budget, priorities and other constraints.

Hands-on ownership of tracking overall team progress, provide detailed status reports and present regular updates to senior management.

Oversight of all phases of the product development life-cycle process from Concept to Commercialization.

Understand Design Control principles and managing gate reviews, design freezes, technical reviews, design reviews, change control, deliverable approval, etc.

Organize regular team meetings to drive decisions, track & mitigate risks, resolve or escalate issues, and monitor progress.

Guide Research and Development teams with creating plans, experimental designs, protocols, data analysis, reports etc.

Lead trade-off assessments to balance product performance and effort, trouble-shoot technical issues and adapt to changing business conditions.

Challenge teams to continuously optimize activities to meet business objectives.

Keep senior leadership informed of program risks and issues and escalate appropriately

Proactively lead the project team to complete deliverables in a timely manner - overcome technical challenges, conflict and misalignment

Ability to handle and navigate multiple levels of activity at the same time, adjust to dynamic priorities and anticipate & resolve significant project challenges

Interface with external partners and facilitate joint development efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or similar Science or Engineering technical focused degree required. MS or PhD is highly preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of program management experience in biotech or similar technical focused industry required.

Has worked in research, assay development, systems engineering lab operations, or software development previously.

Detailed understanding of Next-Gen Sequencing platforms and their applications in molecular diagnostics.

Familiarity with lab informatics systems and processes (e.g., pipelines, LIMS, order & reporting, accessioning)

Certification or formal training in Program or Project Management is nice to have.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must Have:

Advanced experience compiling GANTT charts and project plans.

Advanced experience with project management tools such as MS Project or other.

Understanding of product development under design control. IVD experience a major plus.
- Candidates should have prior experience with FDA/PMA submissions and/or a background in NGS-based technologies to be successful in this role

Excellent interpersonal skills in addition to having the ability to effectively communicate within the project teams as well as to top level management.

Excellent organization and time management/multi-tasking skills (comfortable in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment, operating at both strategic and tactical levels).

Ability to work independently and as part of team
