Job Description
As the Senior Tools Administrator, you will be the subject matter expert for our entire SDLC toolchain, with a focus on the Atlassian Cloud Suite (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, StatusPage) and its integration with GitLab, plus many supporting systems. You will be responsible for the administration, automation, and strategic evolution of these tools to support our agile software development teams operating within a highly regulated healthcare environment. You will be a key partner to engineering, quality, and product teams, ensuring our tools not only boost productivity but also form the backbone of our compliance strategy.
- Manage Jira and Confluence environments, including the design and implementation of scalable workflows, screen schemes, permissions, and custom fields that align with agile best practices and organizational needs.
- Be a Subject Matter Expert for the Atlassian platform, providing consultative guidance, establishing best practices, and supporting a large and growing user base.
- Manage other tools in the engineering productivity suite including test management, requirements management, product management, etc.
- Lead lifecycle management of the Atlassian platform, including evaluating and integrating marketplace add-ons, and managing licenses.
- Design, build, and maintain robust, bi-directional integrations between Jira, GitLab, and other third-party applications (e.g., Slack, test management tools, CI/CD systems).
- Develop automation solutions to eliminate manual processes, enforce business rules, validate data integrity, and enhance engineering productivity.
- Translate complex healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11 principles) into system configurations, workflows, and process controls within Atlassian and related tools.
- Implement and manage security settings and audit logs to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and support for internal and external compliance audits.
- Partner with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs teams. You will be the technical lead responsible for configuring and maintaining tools for requirements management and end-to-end traceability.
- Provide users with expert-level technical support and consultation, systematically troubleshooting complex issues related to tools, integrations, and workflows.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and training materials to empower teams, promote self-service, and ensure consistent tool usage.
- Create and manage advanced reports and dynamic dashboards to provide teams and leadership with actionable, real-time insights into project status, development cycle times, quality metrics, and other key performance indicators.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of dedicated, hands-on experience as an Atlassian Administrator, with a proven track record of managing large, complex Jira and Confluence environments, preferably supporting 2,000+ users.
- Technical Depth: Deep, demonstrable expertise in designing, configuring, and maintaining advanced Jira components, including complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, notification schemes, automation rules, and advanced JQL.
- Automation & Scripting: Strong, practical proficiency in a scripting language (Groovy for ScriptRunner is highly preferred; Python is also valuable) and significant experience using REST APIs to build and maintain custom integrations between systems.
- AI: Experience incorporating modern AI tools into engineering productivity workflows and using AI to create solutions.
- Regulated Industry Experience: Prior experience administering development tools for an organization in a regulated industry such as healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or finance. A working knowledge of compliance frameworks like GxP, SOX, or HIPAA and how they apply to the SDLC is a significant advantage.
- Traceability & Test Management: Experience with dedicated requirements traceability or test case management tools and plugins (Jama Connect, TestRail) and configuring them to support a compliant Verification and Validation process.
- Certifications: Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications.
- Broader Ecosystem: Familiarity with integrating Atlassian in an enterprise ecosystem.
- Agile Methodologies: A strong, practical understanding of various Agile principles and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and a proven ability to configure tools to effectively support them at scale.
- Learning mindset: You are passionate about technology, committed to staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, and comfortable and enthusiastic about learning new tools and technologies as needed.
- Problem Solver: You are a creative and highly analytical thinker who thrives on deconstructing complex technical challenges and proactively identifies opportunities for process and system improvement.
- Collaborator & Communicator: You possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and you can effectively work with both deeply technical engineers and non-technical business stakeholders, translating their needs into robust, scalable solutions.
- Owner & Self-Starter: You exhibit a powerful sense of ownership and accountability. You can work independently with minimal guidance, effectively prioritize a demanding workload from both a support queue and a project pipeline, and drive initiatives from conception to completion.
- Process-Oriented: You have a systematic, process-oriented mindset and a forward-looking attitude. You are focused on building scalable, maintainable systems and establishing durable best practices, not just implementing one-off fixes.

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
