About the Role
Roo is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will be a key contributor in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, supporting our external audit procedures, and driving process improvements as we scale. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, operates independently with sound judgment, and proactively identifies opportunities to enhance processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Own key aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to a set close timeline.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, financial schedules, and balance fluctuations to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
- Ownership of daily operations such as T&E approvals, banking, accounts payable, and assisting in the accounts receivable process.
- Assist with customer, vendor, and internal cross-functional communication.
- Support external audit readiness by preparing audit schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and alignment with best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, with a mix of operational and technical accounting responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, reconciliation preparation, accounts receivable cycle, and accounts payable cycle.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and operational accounting best practices.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, ideally in tech, SaaS, or marketplace businesses.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrates ownership of their assigned tasks.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; experience with Quickbooks or similar ERP systems is a plus.
