Ready to make an impact at a fast-growing company? Dscout is looking for a Staff Accountant to help drive our Finance team forward. This role reports directly to our Controller and helps ensure our accounting operations run smoothly. You’ll be responsible for accurate reporting, account reconciliation, and timely financial statement preparation. This is a collaborative role that will give you exposure to teams across Dscout.
While this role is mostly remote, occasional visits to our Chicago HQ are part of the experience, so being in or near Chicago is a plus. If you're excited to support a fast-growing company and ready to jump in, we’d love to hear from you!
- Partner with our Accounting Manager on complex topics including: ASC350-40 (internal use software), ASC606 (revenue recognition), foreign currency translation, consolidation, elimination entries, and financial reporting.
- Stay current on new accounting standards and regulations, and help implement necessary changes.
- Research accounting guidance and ensure entries follow GAAP.
- Assist with our annual audit process.
- Support payment and collection processes, especially around Scout incentives.
- Assist Senior Accountants with accounts payable and receivable.
- Help with tax compliance.
- Prepare journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations as part of month-end close.
- Help implement and optimize our finance systems as the company evolves.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset to make processes better and more efficient.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- CPA or path to CPA (required)
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Problem-solving mindset and a service-oriented approach to supporting internal stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A team mindset and eagerness to jump in wherever needed—no task is too small!
