Job Description

Reports to: Director, Data Engineering

Location: Remote US

Compensation Range: $180,000 to $210,000 base plus bonus and equity

What We Do:

Huntress is a fully remote, global team of passionate experts and ethical badasses on a mission to break down the barriers to cybersecurity. Whether creating purpose-built security solutions, hunting down hackers, or impacting our community, our people go above and beyond to change the security game and make a real difference.

Founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress protects all businesses—not just the 1%—with enterprise-grade, fully owned, and managed cybersecurity products at the price of an affordable SaaS application. The Huntress difference is our One Team advantage: our technology is designed with our industry-defining Security Operations Center (SOC) in mind and is never separated from our service.

We protect 3M+ endpoints and 1M+ identities worldwide, elevating underresourced IT teams with protection that works as hard as they do. As long as hackers keep hacking, Huntress keeps hunting.

What You’ll Do:

As a Staff Data Engineer at Huntress, you'll be pivotal in shaping and executing our data strategy to fuel company growth. You will architect and lead the development of high-impact data solutions, transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that empower data-driven decision-making across the business. Your focus will be on building and scaling a robust data ecosystem capable of supporting a rapidly evolving, data-centric organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions that translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Architect and drive the development of robust, scalable, and production-grade data platforms and pipelines using modern data technologies, including Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and Hightouch
  • Lead the technical direction for data architecture, modeling, transformation, and the operationalization of ML/AI models (MLOps/AIOps) to achieve measurable business outcomes.
  • Champion data integrity and governance by building and deploying data quality frameworks, establishing best practices, and remediating anomalies to foster stakeholder trust.
  • Drive the evaluation and implementation of cutting-edge data technologies, including Iceberg, Kafka-based streaming platforms, and unified semantic layers to accelerate business insights.
  • Spearhead data and tool migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions and system reliability.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data documentation, rigorous testing protocols, and collaborative peer review processes.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers on data engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

What You Bring To The Team:

  • 6-8 years of full-stack data practitioner experience with at least 4 years in a data engineering or architecture role.
  • Proven track record designing and optimizing production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines that drive business value.
  • Deep expertise with cloud data platforms, including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
  • Strong experience developing, scaling, and administering enterprise dbt implementations.
  • Advanced Python and SQL proficiency.
  • Experience operationalizing ML/AI models using Snowpark, AWS Glue, or Databricks MLOps frameworks in production environments.
  • End-to-end ownership of data analytics projects from requirements gathering through architecture, design, and deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to architect data systems that enhance data quality, governance, and stakeholder trust.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

What We Offer:

  • 100% remote work environment - since our founding in 2015
  • Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans
  • 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution
  • Life and Disability insurance plans
  • Stock options for all full-time employees
  • One-time $500 reimbursement for building/upgrading home office
  • Annual allowance for education and professional development assistance
  • $75 USD/month digital reimbursement
  • Access to the BetterUp platform for coaching, personal, and professional growth

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
