Job Description
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 35 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
About The Team:
You will be joining CookUnity’s Content & Creator team. We’re reimagining the customer experience to be more immersive and chef-centric—bringing rich content, short-form video, and storytelling to the forefront of how users discover meals and connect with our creators. Our mission is to transform the platform from a utility into an experience that celebrates culinary creativity and deepens engagement with our chef community.
The Role:
We’re looking for a seasoned Staff React Native Engineer to join our Content & Creator team. In this role, you’ll be embedded in a cross-functional feature team, collaborating closely with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to deliver rich, high-impact user experiences. You’ll help shape the future of our user-facing platform—driving technical excellence, championing best practices, and leading initiatives that push the boundaries of interactivity, performance, and visual storytelling. Your work will play a key role in evolving CookUnity into a more content-forward, immersive, and chef-centric platform.
Responsibilities:
- Build and ship high-quality, engaging, user-facing features across our mobile and web apps.
- Champion performance, reliability, and code quality across the React Native codebase.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to define and implement exceptional user experiences.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, helping elevate engineering standards across the team.
Minimum Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience with React Native and a strong grasp of the mobile development ecosystem.
- Fluency in TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and other core web technologies.
- Strong track record of collaborating with Product and Design to build impactful mobile experiences.
- Ability to translate designs—from low-fidelity wireframes to polished redlines—into clean, maintainable code.
- Strong product and design sensibility; you care about the “why” behind the feature.
- A self-starter mindset; you take ownership and drive initiatives with minimal oversight.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining high-quality consumer applications at scale.
- Familiarity with frontend tooling such as Expo/EAS, Storybook, Jest, or Restyle.
- Exposure to native iOS/Android stacks or bridging native modules within React Native.
- Experience in (or enthusiasm for) working at a fast-moving startup, where ambiguity is embraced and ownership is encouraged.

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
