Job Description

Why This Role Matters Now
Mogo is transforming into an AI-native fintech, redesigning every layer of our business—from lending to investing to operations—around automation, intelligence, and velocity. Our goal: to dramatically increase team output and reduce operating costs by embedding AI and automation into every part of how we build, deploy, and support our products.

To make this possible, we’re hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the evolution of our DevOps, infrastructure, and developer productivity systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that will shape how AI and humans work together to scale a next-generation digital finance company.

What You’ll Do

Rebuild Our Platform for AI-Native Engineering

  • Design and evolve Mogo’s internal infrastructure to support AI-first workflows, including Copilot-powered development, agent-based test automation, AI-assisted incident response, and intelligent alerting.

  • Own and evolve our multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure (EKS/OKE), infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, ArgoCD), and observability systems (Datadog, Prometheus, Sentry) — ensuring they’re scalable, secure, and accessible to both humans and AI agents.
  • Play a key role in guiding and executing infrastructure migrations and modernization efforts across AWS and OCI.

Accelerate AI Adoption Through Automation

  • Build self-serve internal platforms that reduce cognitive load and unlock AI-led developer velocity.
  • Support integration of LLM APIs (OpenAI, LangChain, etc.), and work with AI squads to eliminate blockers in deployment, service orchestration, and data access.
  • Automate operational workflows including CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, smart alert routing, and auto-remediation systems.

Treat Infrastructure as a Product

  • Design infrastructure that’s intuitive, observable, documented, and constantly evolving based on developer feedback.
  • Partner with engineering, compliance, and support teams to identify toil and enable intelligent automation across the company.
  • Own internal metrics like time-to-deploy, MTTR, and AI assist usage, and drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll need

  • Have 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering
  • 3+ years experience with AWS, ideally in multi-cloud environments (AWS, OCI).
  • Are deeply experienced with Kubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, Vault, GitHub Actions, Docker, and observability tooling like Datadog and Sentry.
  • Are fluent in developer workflows and passionate about increasing engineering velocity through automation and platform design.
  • Have experience with or curiosity about AI tools like GitHub Copilot, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Streamlit, or other AI/infra automation stacks.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-change environments where systems thinking and creative problem solving matter more than checklists.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with cloud migrations, re-architecture, or platform modernization across AWS, OCI, or similar.
  • Contributions to internal platforms or open-source infra/dev tooling.
  • Experience building or integrating with AI-enhanced developer tools or automation agents.
  • A systems-oriented perspective on how to run a modern AI-native engineering organization.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary: $120,000 – $170,000 CAD
  • Unlimited vacation + fully remote work across Canada.
  • Opportunity to help define the infrastructure backbone of an AI-native company from the ground up.
  • A chance to work at the frontier of AI-powered software engineering, not as a side project - but as the core mission.

Why Join Now?

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
