About the Role:

The Workforce Management team at Motive builds solutions that empower fleets to effectively manage their workforce through features like time management, driver qualifications, and training. This helps customers improve productivity, streamline compliance, and reduce operational risk.

We’re seeking a Staff Product Designer to collaborate with our cross-functional technology and product team. You’ll identify and understand customer problems and translate them into innovative and impactful solutions across our ecosystem of products and apps. You will drive design and create innovative experiences for both SMB and enterprise-level clients that seamlessly integrate into the Motive ecosystem.

Staff designers sit at the pinnacle of the individual contributor path, tasked with working on the most intractable design problems. You will establish a high bar for quality and execution through effective design thinking, process, craft, and mentorship. You will establish, evolve, and evangelize the next generation of our design system across multiple product surfaces. And finally, you will partner with and mentor designers to elevate the output of the overall team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Shape strategy and direction for the highest priority product investments
  • Connect-the-dots across disparate product areas to uncover patterns and opportunities
  • Think in terms of broad platform and systems strategy rather than siloed features
  • Establish a high bar for design quality across the company that aligns with our brand
  • Understand customer and business problems through research and data
  • Own design problems end to end, from initial concept through execution and beyond
  • Build alignment and articulate vision through strong storytelling and presentations skills
  • Mentor other designers and contribute to the overall design culture of the company.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 8+ years of experience in User Experience, Interaction, and Interface design
  • Experience leading complex web and mobile projects with a cross-functional team
  • Ability to generate detailed design concepts, documentation, and prototypes
  • A design portfolio that showcases proficient design skills, product thinking, and problem-solving
  • Experience working with or creating design systems and frameworks
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to be comfortable with and navigate an industry undergoing disruption
  • Unbounded curiosity and sense of adventure

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
