We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the PinCompute Shared Platform team. The team is responsible for PinCompute, which is PInterest’s next-generation Kubernetes backed compute platform. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the platform control plane development and significantly impact Pinterest's overall infrastructure scalability and efficiency. The team is looking for a candidate with a strong background in Kubernetes, platform and distributed system development.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain mission-critical software to achieve our ambitious goals for adoption, scalability, and reliability.
- Identify and execute optimizations to enhance platform efficiency and optimize infrastructure resource utilization in alignment with financial objectives.
- Collaborate with user and partner teams, taking a leadership role in defining and driving the strategic direction of Pinterest's compute platform.
- Provide technical guidance and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years of experience in developing, managing and scaling large-scale compute platforms or distributed systems, preferably in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS).
- Experience in Infrastructure and Containers covering Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Understanding of Kubernetes components internals such as Kubelet, Kube Proxy, API Machinery, and Controllers.
- Demonstrated ability to drive complicated technical projects and make long-term strategic decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
