Job Description

TRM Labs is a blockchain intelligence company committed to fighting crime and creating a safer world. By leveraging blockchain data, threat intelligence, and advanced analytics, our products empower governments, financial institutions, and crypto businesses to combat illicit activity and global security threats. At TRM, you'll join a mission-driven, fast-paced team made up of experts in law enforcement, data science, engineering, and financial intelligence, tackling complex global challenges daily. Whether analyzing blockchain data, developing cutting-edge tools, or collaborating with global organizations, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

As a Strategic Finance Associate, you will play a critical role in shaping TRM’s financial future by supporting rigorous planning, analysis, and reporting. Reporting to the Head of FP&A, you’ll work across teams to deliver actionable insights that help TRM scale efficiently and align resources with strategic priorities. You will execute core FP&A processes — including forecasting, reporting, and long-term planning — while building high-quality financial models and delivering concise communications to executives, the board, and investors. This role is a strong fit for an analytically rigorous, detail-oriented finance athlete who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex problems collaboratively.

The impact you will have:

  • Drive monthly and quarterly forecasting and reporting cycles with guidance from the Head of FP&A
  • Own budget-vs-actuals updates, identifying variances, and surfacing insights for decision-makers
  • Create financial materials for TRM’s board, executive reviews, and all-hands meetings
  • Support top-down and bottoms-up financial planning for 2025 and beyond
  • Build models and templates to inform planning, hiring, and investment decisions
  • Contribute to ad hoc strategic projects (e.g. scenario planning, pricing, vendor optimization)
  • Assist in investor reporting and fundraising support, with opportunities to grow into ownership

What we’re looking for:

  • 3–6 years of experience in banking, consulting, corporate finance, or strategic finance at a tech company
  • Expert-level Excel/Sheets modeling skills
  • Clarity and polish in writing and presentations
  • Experience with planning cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Comfortable working independently and driving outcomes without needing to be asked twice
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration preferred; MBA a plus

  • Delivering actionable, clear analysis to the leadership team within 2 days of month-end
  • Building a 2025 financial plan draft within two weeks of receiving top-down goals
  • Partnering with business owners to reforecast budgets and make adjustments within 72 hours

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The compensation details listed in this posting reflect the US base salary only.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
