Job Description

About Spark Advisors

We’re Spark, a mission-driven company helping independent Medicare brokers build the insurance business of their dreams. The vast majority of beneficiaries select benefits with the help of an independent broker, but technology and support for brokers is woefully antiquated. We provide workflows and services to help brokers achieve transformative growth.

In just five years, we’ve partnered with over 6,000 brokers and enrolled over 140,000 beneficiaries, making us the fastest-growing Medicare brokerage in the country. Brokers love us: during this period of intense growth, we’ve maintained an NPS of 91 and a client retention rate of 93%, and we’ve helped brokers grow on average >100% since partnering with us.

It’s an exciting time to be at Spark. Our diverse, remote-first team comes from leading technology, healthcare, and insurance companies, and has grown from 70 to 90 in the last year. Most recently, we’ve raised a Series B from leading investors who share our ambition.

Join us: we’re always on the lookout for sharp, talented, empathetic teammates.

Summary

We’re looking for highly analytical and execution-oriented Strategy & Operations Lead to help drive strategic initiatives, data-driven decisions and operational excellence across the organization. The role will work closely with the leadership team and across multiple cross-functional areas (including Operations, Sales, Finance, Product, etc.) to identify opportunities, solve complex business problems, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. We are looking for individuals who are high horsepower and high throughput to help us increase capacity and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact, cross-functional strategic projects from ideation to execution
  • Analyze business performance data to identify trends, surface insights, and guide decision-making
  • Build business cases and financial models to support strategic investments and priorities
  • Design and optimize key operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Support change management efforts related to new systems, tools, or workflows

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3-5+ years of consulting, investment banking, or business operations experience
  • Proven ability to lead complex, ambiguous projects with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to present to external stakeholders
  • Experience working cross-functionally and influencing without authority
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and an ownership mentality
  • Bias for action, you are comfortable with ambiguity and fast decision-making
  • Adaptability & resilience, you thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can pivot quickly as priorities shift.
  • Ownership mentality, you take initiative and follow through
  • Problem-solver, you approach challenges with curiosity and a structured mindset; focuses on solutions, not just symptoms.
  • Bonus points if:
    • You have an MBA
    • You worked at a start-up
    • You’re passionate about healthcare

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
