Overview
The ideal candidate is a seasoned backend engineer with a strong track record of leading teams to build and scale backend infrastructure in a product-oriented environment. They combine technical leadership with hands-on development expertise, guiding teams through the design and implementation of modular APIs, scalable backend systems, and well-structured databases. This is not a management-only role. The person in this position is expected to actively contribute code, drive architectural decisions, and uphold engineering best practices across the team. Experience building real-world service integrations (such as Gmail, Jira, etc.) in a production context is essential.
What You will Work On
- Leading the design and development of real-world services as modular, production-ready APIs
- Providing technical direction and mentorship while remaining hands-on with the codebase
- Maintaining excellent, developer-friendly documentation across services
- Enforcing a Test Driven Development approach with high-quality test coverage
- Ensuring delivery at high velocity while maintaining system reliability and clarity
- Designing and iterating on scalable database schemas for service integrations
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role
- Deep expertise in production-grade Python and backend architecture
- Proven ability to guide teams in building and scaling systems quickly and cleanly
- Strong fundamentals in database schema design and data modeling
- Hands-on experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
- [Bonus] Familiarity with LLM function calling protocols and integration paradigms
