Job Description

About Abridge

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.

Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.

We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the SoHo neighborhood of New York, the Mission District in San Francisco, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.

The Role

We're hiring a Technical Writer to lead the execution of internal-enabling and partner-facing technical documentation. This is a strategic, hands-on role that goes beyond writing. You'll own the structure, clarity, distribution, and maintenance of documentation delivered to enterprise customers, helping our most critical stakeholders—project and IT teams—understand and support Abridge’s AI-powered clinical products.

Our rapid release cycle means you'll be a key part of our product go-to-market motion, with deep visibility into what’s launching and how it needs to be enabled. You'll partner with product managers, product marketers, clinicians, and implementation leaders to ensure documentation is comprehensive, accessible, and accurate.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the creation, ongoing maintenance, and governance of technical documentation for enterprise-facing stakeholders (especially Project and IT teams).

  • Define and evolve the structure, delivery format, and templates for documentation, ensuring it’s scalable, consistent, and easy to navigate.

  • Partner closely with Product, Product Marketing, Product Design, Engineering, Clinical, and Implementation teams to gather information on upcoming features and changes.

  • Translate complex AI-driven clinical features into polished, understandable documentation for non-user stakeholders.

  • Develop a sustainable documentation lifecycle in alignment with our monthly product release cadence.

  • Build a library of reusable assets, diagrams, and reference content to support documentation needs across feature types.

  • Act as the owner of technical documentation across Abridge, driving accountability and quality.

  • Gather feedback from internal teams and customer-facing stakeholders to continuously improve documentation strategy and usability.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing for complex software products.

  • Proven ability to synthesize highly technical or abstract information into clear, usable documentation.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with frequent changes and tight timelines.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, marketing, and clinical.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to details.

Bonus Points If

  • Familiarity with medical and clinical terminology, especially in the context of EHR workflows, documentation, or coding.

  • Experience in the healthcare, health tech, or life sciences space.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and the ability to explain AI-powered product features to a nontechnical audience.

  • Background in defining documentation formats or setting up documentation infrastructure.

  • Experience with Confluence, Notion, Markdown-based systems, or other knowledge base tools.

This is a hybrid role. To be considered, candidates must be within commutable distance of our New York City or SF offices.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
