Our client is the creator of Metalstorm, a fast-paced, free-to-play 5v5 air combat game with a growing global community. They are currently looking to completely redesign their webshop (playmetalstorm.com/shop) to create a more engaging, seamless experience for players.
Location: Fully Remote (Project-Based, 3 months), 9 AM - 5 PM EST
Role Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced and creative Contract Website UX/UI Artist to lead the redesign of their Metalstorm webshop. This project-based role involves transforming their current online store into a modern, user-friendly platform that aligns with Metalstorm's brand and enhances the purchasing experience for their players. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional e-commerce design and a passion for gaming.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Redesign Project: Own the entire webshop redesign process, from initial concept and wireframing through to final visual design and handoff to the development team.
UX Vision & Strategy: Develop a clear UX vision for the webshop redesign, focusing on intuitive navigation, streamlined purchasing flows, and a user-friendly experience that resonates with players.
Wireframing & Prototyping: Create detailed wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and user journeys effectively.
UI Design & Visual Identity: Design a cohesive, visually compelling interface that reflects Metalstorm's high-energy aesthetic. Define the color palette, typography, iconography, and layout for the project.
Asset Creation: Design and produce all necessary visual assets, ensuring they are optimized for web performance across various devices.
Responsive Design: Ensure the final design is responsive, providing an optimal viewing experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and development teams to ensure the design aligns with the brand strategy and technical feasibility, considering the in-game economy during the project.
Stay Current: Apply the latest UX/UI trends and e-commerce best practices relevant to the project.
Requirements
Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer or Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing e-commerce website redesigns.
Strong expertise in wireframing, prototyping, user flows, and high-fidelity visual design.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility best practices.
Experience with responsive and mobile-first design.
Excellent visual design skills with attention to detail in typography, color, and layout.
Ability to translate brand identity and gaming aesthetics into web design.
Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices for driving conversion and user satisfaction.
Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills in a remote team setting.
Ability to manage project deliverables, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Bonus Points
Experience working on a contract or freelance basis for game studios.
Familiarity with designing for gaming communities or virtual item shops.
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for smooth developer handoff.
Experience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify, Magento, or custom solutions.
