We’re looking for a passionate and experienced UX Designer to join our Engineering team on a 15-month contract!
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, agile environment and is driven by creating impactful, user-centered experiences across digital platforms. You’ll be at the forefront of our design efforts, shaping meaningful products that align with both user needs and business goals.
Reporting to the Team Lead, UX/Design, you’ll be responsible for assessing user desirability, technical viability, and business feasibility, while providing evidence-based design guidance. You’ll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of product managers, developers, marketers, and insurance brokers in an agile setting.
Please note: This is a full-time contract position for 15 months, with the potential for future opportunities.
- Collaboratively lead ideation sessions, co-creation workshops, and design thinking exercises with cross-functional teams.
- Translate complex problems into intuitive, elegant user experiences.
- Produce key design artifacts including wireframes, user flows, functional prototypes, and user scenarios.
- Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to stakeholders and team members.
- Stay current with UX best practices, design systems, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA+), usability testing tools, and design trends.
- Define and conduct user research, usability testing, and synthesis to inform design decisions.
- Continuously improve and maintain the existing Design System.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to ensure design vision is translated into quality execution.
- Contribute to a culture of feedback, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- University degree in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Computer Science, Fine Arts, Media Arts, Digital Media, or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of UX/UI design experience.
- Strong background in user-centered design and mixed-method research methodologies.
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent prototyping tools.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and evolving a Design System.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing design thinking, problem-solving, and user-centric outcomes.
- Experience designing responsive experiences for desktop and mobile platforms.
- Experience working in agile product teams.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills; able to articulate design rationale clearly.
- Ability to incorporate stakeholder feedback into design iterations.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and conducting accessibility audits is an asset.
- Experience in Fintech, Insurance, or Banking sectors is an asset.
- Knowledge of conversion optimization and UX analytics is an asset.
