Job Description

Join Our Journey at Engine

At Engine, we’re revolutionizing work travel. Our modern travel platform isn’t just about booking trips; it’s about transforming how businesses and their teams experience travel. From seamless booking options with top airlines, hotels, and car rental providers to single-invoice billing and flexible trip modifications, we make travel not only easier to manage but also enjoyable. Backed by powerhouse investors like Telescope Partners, Blackstone, Elefund, and Permira, we’re growing fast—and we want you to be part of it.

Your Mission:

As VP of Talent Acquisition, you will own the strategy, systems, and execution behind how we hire the talent that powers Engine. You will lead a team of 20+, including TA managers, recruiters, TA operations, and coordinators responsible for delivering exceptional talent across all GTM, Corporate and Tech functions. This is not a role for passive operators. We’re looking for a builder and a driver - someone who obsesses over precision hiring, enforces talent density standards, and thrives in a fast-moving, performance-obsessed environment. You will serve as a force multiplier across the business as a primary executive stakeholder and key player in achieving our ambitious business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Talent Strategy: Architect and execute the full lifecycle recruiting strategy for all GTM, Corporate and Tech functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, People, Product, Engineering etc), aligned tightly with business goals and long term growth plans.
  • Leadership & Talent Density: Build, develop, and manage a high-performance team of recruiters, recruiting managers, coordinators, and TA ops. Drive Talent Density practices and measurement throughout the recruitment process, determining our approach to ensure every hire raises the company average.
  • Operational Excellence: Instill rigorous accountability through recruiting funnel analytics, daily KPIs, and productivity benchmarks. Architect systems that drive consistency, speed, and quality. You will design scalable workflows, drive adoption of modern recruiting tools (Ashby, Covey, AI sourcing tech), and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Executive Stakeholder Partnership: Operate as a true partner to senior leadership, Finance, and the People team on headcount planning, hiring prioritization, and compensation strategy. Partner with executive leaders and department heads to anticipate workforce needs and build sustainable hiring capacity. You won’t just support the business - you’ll co-author its growth.
  • Interview Quality & Bar Raising: Lead interviewer enablement, implement consistent calibration, and ensure every hire meets our high bar. You will be the guardian of quality - velocity never comes at the expense of standards.

What You’ll Bring to Engine:

  • Leadership Experience: 10+ years of recruiting experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles within high-growth, high-performance companies. You’ve led full-stack recruiting teams (10+ people) including ops and managers, and driven results at pace.
  • Enterprise Thinking: You understand how your function interacts with every part of the business and bring strategic insight across Finance, and People. You’ve translated ambiguous company goals into structured TA strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to Scale: Proven ability to scale GTM, Corporate and Tech recruiting functions through rapid growth, while maintaining excellence and talent density.
  • Recruiting Tools: Strong technical acumen with modern recruiting tools and systems - experience with Greenhouse, Ashby, Covey, and AI-driven sourcing platforms preferred.
  • Data Driven Mindset: Mastery of recruiting data and metrics; you live in the funnel and make every decision rooted in performance indicators.
  • Stakeholder Management: You operate as a peer to senior leadership and can influence decisions at the highest level. You communicate clearly, operate with conviction, and know how to drive alignment without creating drag.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
