This role is completely remote-friendly. If you happen to live close to one of our physical office locations, our doors are open for you to come into the office as often as you'd like.
Who We Are:
The mission of the Search Experiences team is to empower users to safely navigate, find, and engage with the breadth and depth of Reddit; a team that is used by ⅕ of all Redditors daily! This includes enabling product development teams across the company, and serving as the client access layer for all of Reddit's rich dataset while driving the next generation of user experiences.
What You’ll Do:
Search is one our most viewed product surfaces, and a huge responsibility for the shepherds of these surfaces. This role will encompass ownership of the end to end UI/UX experiences that expose the latest advancements in Search technologies at Reddit. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to work closely with ML and Search practitioners to deliver a Search user experience that is safe, performant and engaging.
As a Web Engineer on the Search Experiences team, you’ll draw on your technical expertise (whether it's Lit-Element, SDUI, GraphQL, or React) to architect, implement, and maintain best in class UI/UX experiences that will advance Reddit’s efforts to bring community and belonging to everyone on the planet.
Responsibilities:
- Expertise in Lit-Element, Web Components, React or equivalent web technologies, with experience developing Web applications
- Design and implement the next generation of Reddit Feeds & Search experiences
- Work with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences
- Champion and drive engineering processes and best practices
- Write efficient, scalable and maintainable code that will help us iterate quickly and safely
Who You Might Be:
- 3+ years software engineering experience, and expect experience building user facing features from design to finish:
- We are looking for someone with full stack web development experience, with a balance of experience across modern web technologies and backend service code
- We are language-agnostic when hiring but use primarily typescript in the frontend, and GraphQL, golang, python in the backend stack.
- A past track record of Quality, for example:
- Familiarity with unit testing and other automated testing.
- Ability to code with resiliency and fault tolerance in mind
- Has operational experience supporting live ops for websites
- Collaboration skills: you work well with a team!
