Quince is a retail and technology company co-founded by a team that has extensive experience in retail, technology and building early stage companies. You’ll work with a team of world-class talent from Stanford GSB, Google, D.E. Shaw, Stitch Fix, Urban Outfitters, Wayfair, McKinsey, Nike etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Yarn Development & Innovation:

  • Design and optimize cashmere yarns for superior handfeel, durability, and overall performance.
  • Re-engineer existing yarns to enhance softness, longevity, and customer experience , while balancing .
  • Deconstruct and analyze yarns to assess their fiber composition, twist, ply, and finishing treatments.
  • Apply technical expertise to develop innovative yarn solutions that meet performance, cost, and sustainability goals.
  • Use customer data and insights to inform details that matter for customers and translate those insights into actionable yarn-level specifications.

Technical Analysis & Testing:

  • Conduct detailed assessments of yarn properties and link findings to product outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external labs to test yarn attributes, ensuring alignment with performance benchmarks.
  • Identify and troubleshoot potential weaknesses in yarn construction that could impact garment quality.

Supplier & Production Collaboration:

  • Partner with fiber suppliers and spinning mills to optimize fiber selection, spinning techniques, and finishing processes.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and ensure alignment with technical and quality expectations.
  • Influence sourcing decisions by providing technical insights on fiber, yarn, and knitting methods.
  • Work upstream to evaluate the best possible vendor source base for cashmere fiber, ensuring quality, consistency, cost-competitiveness, and sustainability.

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Manage major yarn development projects, ensuring definition of clear milestones/timelines to execute the project, while tracking execution, and communicating potential risks/blockers to hitting goals.
  • Work closely with R&D, Product Development, and Sourcing teams to drive continuous improvements in cashmere yarns.
  • Proactively push for innovation and challenge traditional approaches to yarn engineering.
  • Ensure clear documentation of yarn specifications and technical learnings to support knowledge sharing and future development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational Background: Degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Significant experience in R&D and product development of yarns, particularly cashmere.
  • Knitted Garment Knowledge: Strong understanding of how yarn properties affect finished cashmere and other yarn garments.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to dissect and optimize yarn constructions with a data-driven approach.
  • Project Management: Ability to operate in a scrappy but organized way, balancing multiple projects effectively.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and drive results.
  • Innovation & Creativity: Passion for thinking outside the box to push the boundaries of yarn engineering.
  • Customer Insight Integration: Experience using customer data to refine yarn specifications that enhance the user experience.
  • Supply Chain & Sourcing Knowledge: Strong ability to evaluate and select the best vendor source base for cashmere fiber.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with global fiber suppliers and spinning mills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable yarn development practices.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and systems for material development.

We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. Bonus eligibility varies by role and is determined based on the position’s impact and contribution to our strategic goals.

Pay Range
$60,000$70,000 USD
