Overview: Inovalon’s Insights business unit is seeking a Director, Research Science and Advanced Analytics to join its Advanced Healthcare Analytics group. The group works with life sciences companies and other healthcare sectors to quantify and communicate the real-world value of healthcare interventions and to align our clients’ business strategies with the evidentiary demands of an increasingly value-driven marketplace. We are driven by deep subject matter expertise, differentiated and proprietary real-world data assets, and an emphasis on sound business strategy coupled with rigorous research and advanced analytic capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as internal and external technical subject matter expert (SME) pertaining to data analytics, biostatistics, econometrics, and/or research methods;
- Deliver presentations and papers in public forums and conferences;
- Contribute high-level technical, subject matter expertise to projects;
- Contribute to scope and ideate project design and methods;
- Anticipate and create flexible analytic tools and models for reuse with a diverse set of clients;
- Author study reports and scientific publications, abstracts, and posters;
- Identify and develop solutions to key strategic business problems using high-level modeling and statistical analyses techniques;
- Utilize SQL to perform advanced-level data extraction, transformation and data management; fully document and manage library of source code and algorithms for future use;
- Develop and test hypotheses in support of research and product offerings; communicate findings in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to clients;
- Produce client-ready deliverables;
- Interface independently with clients to design research studies, protocols, predictive and advanced analytics, observational research, reports, and publications;
- Manage technical tasks on projects;
- Contribute high-level technical expertise to scopes and Statements of Work (SOWs);
- Develop junior staff into SMEs, both informally and formally, as a people manager based on need;
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
- Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Employer.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum eight (8) years’ professional experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries required;
- Demonstrated problem solving, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills;
- Expert understanding and experience in researching and resolving data issues with a logical, instinctive, and problem-solving mentality working with large, complex, and incomplete sources;
- Business analytical skills (process flows, procedures, spreadsheets, modeling, etc.) and expert understanding of design and architecture principles;
- Exhibit excellent project management skills with an ability to work independently on multiple projects with competing priorities; exhibit a strong commitment to meeting goals and deadlines;
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word;
- Expert understanding of database management tools;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences;
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment;
- Knowledge of health care, health policy, pharmaceutical, medical device, and related issues; and
- Expert ability to manage challenging client situations;
Education:
- Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, applied mathematics, econometrics, statistics, engineering, physics, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
- Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
- Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
- Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally usually for training purposes.

In addition to the base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
