Job Description
About Pinterest:
Millions of people around the world come to our platform to find creative ideas, dream about new possibilities and plan for memories that will last a lifetime. At Pinterest, we’re on a mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and that starts with the people behind the product.
Discover a career where you ignite innovation for millions, transform passion into growth opportunities, celebrate each other’s unique experiences and embrace the flexibility to do your best work. Creating a career you love? It’s Possible.
The Products team of the Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) at Pinterest is tasked with building AI-first products by leveraging both the full scale of the ML ecosystem within the company, and any available external tools for fast iteration and prototyping. This team sits directly with ML engineering and research, and has a high degree of daily collaboration with these teams. The team is staffed with dedicated PM and design counterparts, all with the same mission of building zero-to-one AI products. ATG has a long history of close collaboration with the rest of the core engineering and product teams at Pinterest, meaning that the work here has a clear expectation of shipping to production.
What you’ll do:
- Mentor and coach a team of product and backend engineers, distributed across NYC, San Francisco, and some remote roles. We aim to create a highly collaborative environment where engineers have the opportunity for bottoms-up ideation and a regular culture of product demos.
- Ensure that the engineering work on the product side follows best practices across iOS, API, and ML engineering.
- Interface directly with our ML/AI teams, collaborating with them on model design decisions, since every product from this team is built to deepen our investments in generative AI.
- Work with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional partners to push forward new product ideas in the AI space. The ideal candidate would feel comfortable leading brainstorming sessions at the intersection of emerging AI trends and design considerations.
- Organize team events across NYC and SF for joint onsites and other engineering+product collaboration opportunities.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of management experience, or tech lead experiences in 8+ people team (4+ years).
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience in product engineering, with at least some experience in collaboration with ML technology teams.
- Deep knowledge of product engineering, which can be in the form of API experience, iOS engineering, systems engineering, or related technologies
- Working knowledge of ML systems; the ideal candidate is able to implement product decisions based on the strengths and weaknesses of existing and upcoming AI releases.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1 times per week and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from either our SF/PA or NYC offices.
Relocation Statement:
- This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. Visit our PinFlex page to learn more about our working model.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips
Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
