Job Description
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivatedTeam Leader to head ourAutomation Team, responsible for creating automated workflows and crawlers that support Optery’s core data privacy services at scale. This role requires both strong technical expertise and leadership skills to guide a team of talented developers in building and maintaining high-quality automation systems.
As aTeam Leader, you will collaborate closely with company leadership, product managers, and other engineering teams to drive innovation and efficiency. You will provide technical direction, mentor team members, and ensure the successful execution of projects. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore and integrategenerative AI technologies to enhance automation workflows, enabling greater scalability and efficiency.
This is afully remote position,based in the United States.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of engineers in designing, building, and maintaining automated workflows and web crawlers.
Define and implement best practices for automation, scalability, security, and performance optimization.
Oversee the development lifecycle from planning to deployment, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Perform code reviews, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Maintain and enhance existing automation tools and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to bot development and automation.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience leading teams in technical environments, particularly in web automation, workflows, and scaling solutions.
3+ years of experience in aleadership role, managing and mentoring software engineers.
5+ years of experience as a software developer, with at least3+ years of hands-on experience in Node.js.
Familiarity with web crawling, automation tools, and workflows (hands-on experience is a plus, but leadership experience is key).
Strong understanding ofasynchronous jobs execution andevent brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
Experience withdatabases (PostgreSQL, SQL, NoSQL such as Redis, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra).
Strong understanding ofuser data security best practices and compliance requirements.
Ability to provide technical direction and mentor team members to deliver high-quality solutions.
Experience withKubernetes andcloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience withPuppeteer for web automation and scraping.
Experience withgenerative AI technologies and using them to enhance workflow automation.
Experience in theconsumer privacy orconsumer data industries.
Familiarity withPython andDjango.
Background in large-scale data processing and distributed systems.
Location
This is aremote-first position, based in the United States. Optery is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, but operates as a fully-remote global team.
