Project: The IRS requires contractor support to perform a variety of testing services, including Systems Acceptability Testing (SAT), Integration Testing, Performance Testing, and related support services like Test Automation and Test Data Management. These services ensure IRS applications and systems function as intended, comply with business requirements, and are free of defects before production implementation. The goal is to enhance the taxpayer experience by providing high-quality, accurate service.
The EST organization within IRS IT supports the modernization of tax processing systems, managing the software life cycle from requirements through to operations. The organization is responsible for executing applicable tests, tracking defects, and communicating results to stakeholders.
The IRS is evolving its testing methodologies to incorporate agile practices and extensive automation, supporting a modern, iterative approach to application delivery. The ITPM will play a crucial role in this transformation, contributing to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of testing strategies and processes.
Testpros seeks a qualified contractor to provide support for its Enterprise Systems Testing (EST) program. The successful candidate will assist with various testing methodologies, including functional testing, integration testing, performance testing, and test automation.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for assigned systems, focusing on testing activities.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, strategies, cases, and data to ensure thorough evaluation of tax administration and other critical applications.
- Utilize industry-standard testing tools and methodologies, including white-box, black-box, and agile testing approaches.
- Implement test automation frameworks and scripts to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and track progress towards resolution.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful testing outcomes.
- Contribute to the evolution of IRS testing practices by recommending improvements and adopting modern methodologies like ATDD, BDD, and continuous integration.
- Maintain a strong understanding of IRS security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities to ensure seamless transitions between teams.
- Prepare and deliver reports documenting testing activities, results, and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing, with a focus on enterprise applications.
- Proven experience in functional testing, integration testing, and test automation.
- Working knowledge of agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum).
- Familiarity with IRS testing methodologies (e.g., SAT, FIT) is a plus.
- Experience with industry-standard testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance.
