You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our system to prevent, detect, and respond to these threats in real-time – in an automated fashion.
Why do we need you?
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer III who will bring strong technical competency and distributed systems experience, enjoys solving complex problems with a results driven mindset, and fosters a strong sense of ownership and operational excellence. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, Trust & Safety in this role.
A day in the life of a Full Stack Engineer, Trust & Safety at Calendly
The Calendly system is a monolith that is being decomposed into various services in order for us to scale our platform and team. We need ambitious, experienced engineers who can help us drive this stage of growth. As an engineer at Calendly, you will both build new features and work to scale our platform and architecture. You will build tooling and automation to fine tune our delivery process as you grow into a service oriented specialist. You will also learn to work with multiple technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Go, Node, TypeScript, Rails, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, and more.
When you join Calendly, you get the opportunity to deliver on a product used by millions and known for its best-in-class quality. Help us continue to deliver critical features to our users with excellence.
On a typical day, you will:
- Design and implement systems to detect and mitigate fraud, abuse, and other threats to platform integrity.
- Develop algorithms and machine learning models to identify patterns of malicious behavior and enforce preventive measures.
- Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Security teams to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Build monitoring and alerting tools to proactively address emerging threats.
- Optimize performance and scalability of Trust & Safety systems to support the platform's growth.
- Conduct root cause analyses of incidents and implement long-term fixes to enhance system resilience.
- Stay informed about new security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies in the Trust & Safety domain.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
What do we need from you?
- 3–5 years of software development experience, ideally at a SaaS or technology company.
- Interest in the Trust & Safety domain and some exposure to challenges like spam detection, account abuse, or content moderation – direct experience is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts or data-driven approaches to identifying patterns of misuse or abuse is helpful but not required.
- Solid understanding of modern web architectures and backend systems – experience contributing to high-availability or scalable systems is a plus, but deep infrastructure ownership is not expected.
- Experience working with cloud providers (e.g., GCP, AWS, or Azure) and a willingness to learn tools like Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern backend framework like Node.js or Rails. You write clean, testable code and are comfortable writing unit and integration tests.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills – you can break down complex problems and contribute to practical solutions.
- A team mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, with strong communication skills to work with product managers, designers, and other engineers.
- Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time.

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
