Job Summary
SandboxAQ seeks a technically-minded and entrepreneurial leader to head Commercial Strategy and Customer Success for our AI Simulation (AISim) business unit, primarily focused on the biopharma industry.
This role will be pivotal in driving the commercial success of our cutting-edge technologies by bringing new solutions to market and optimizing our operational framework. The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of business acumen, technical understanding, and a proven track record in the biopharmaceutical sector.
The Head of Commercial Strategy and Customer Success will drive revenue initiatives, optimize business development processes, and ensure customer success within the AISim business unit.
This individual will work closely with the CBO, and broader business teams to shape our go-to-market model, cultivate key customer and partner relationships, and contribute to the overall revenue growth and strategic partnerships.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive Biopharma Business Growth: Execute the biopharma business development strategy, encompassing sales to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions; lead the full business development lifecycle from opportunity identification through successful contract execution; and can demonstrate a strong track record of closing complex, high-value deals; and evolve our go-to-market model.
- Cultivate Customer & Partner Relationships: Act as the primary interface with customers, potential customers, and technology partners, understanding their needs and aligning them with our solutions; and develop strategic relationships with key opinion leaders in the application of AI and physics to early drug discovery and development, building a network of influencers and early adopters, and catalyze partnerships with large GSIs.
- Enhance Market Position & Value Proposition: Proactively improve our value proposition and strengthen product-market fit by identifying priority buyer and user profiles, in collaboration with product and R&D teams; and lead competitive market intelligence efforts, delivering timely, compelling, and actionable insights.
- Shape Growth & Product Strategy: Develop a clear growth and scaling strategy for AQBioSim, including market segment strategic planning; support product development by soliciting and distilling market feedback; identify potential technology partners and acquisition opportunities, and support post-merger integration; and define and implement customer success strategies.
- Champion Customer Success: Establish a customer-centric approach, ensuring needs are met throughout the engagement lifecycle, and work closely with delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes and ongoing value realization.
- Drive Sales & Marketing Alignment: Develop and implement scalable sales and delivery processes to support growth and customer retention; develop case studies and proof points from existing work tailored to potential customers, and help convert these to marketing-ready materials in collaboration with the marketing team; and evangelize BioSim across the ecosystem, speaking at conferences, trade shows, and industry events.Foster Culture & Innovation: Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation, and stay ahead of emerging technologies and methodologies in simulation and drug discovery.
About You:
- 15+ years of hands-on experience demonstrating a strong track record of success in both scientific roles and driving revenue through the sale of large-dollar technology solutions to Biopharma and Pharmaceutical customers, with a strong drive to win and close deals, a proven ability to identify opportunities and creativity in deal-making, and experience selling novel solutions or selling into new or underserved markets.
- An empathetic leader who is invested in the team’s success, a champion for our customers, and able to lead others (within and outside the organization).
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach to business development, project management, and an eagerness to learn.
- A track record of closing large deals and partnerships with biopharma companies. Experience launching new business verticals and navigating and closing complex, technical, enterprise contracts.
- Ability to articulate complex technical issues in succinct, cohesive summaries to diverse audiences. A technical depth in molecular modeling tools and key methodologies of computational drug discovery is preferred, and familiarity with macro trends and key players in the AI/ML-enabled simulation ecosystem will be advantageous.
- Analytically and strategically minded with an ability to connect seemingly unrelated information and ideas, and different technical specialties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry Computational Chemistry or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time, in line with customer and industry demands.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $243k - $341k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
