Head of Product Marketing

About XBOW
At XBOW, we’re redefining the future of cybersecurity by building the world's first autonomous pentester, powered by AI. Today, the gold standard for securing software systems is human pentesters, but with the rise of artificial intelligence, we’re stepping up to scale offensive security to meet the ever-growing demand.
AI is transforming the landscape of both cybersecurity and cyberattacks. While millions of people without security expertise are creating software, bad actors are using AI to launch more effective attacks. XBOW fights back with AI-driven superpowers, enabling security teams to stay one step ahead.
Backed by Sequoia Capital and a team that includes the creators of GitHub Copilot and GitHub Advanced Security, XBOW is not just keeping up with the times—we’re shaping the future of cybersecurity. Our mission is simple: to defeat the bad actors before they strike, using AI to revolutionize how we approach offensive security.
We’re building something thatmust be built, and we’re the team to do it. Join us in shaping the next frontier of autonomous security.
Your Role: Head of Product Marketing
We’re looking for a Head of Product Marketing to build and lead this function from the ground up. This is a foundational role—not just for the go-to-market team, but for how we tell the XBOW story to the world. You’ll report to the CEO, and work closely with engineering, design, and customers to define positioning, shape messaging, and lead launches across a product that spans AI, security, and developer tooling.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves getting hands-on, and has strong instincts for technical audiences. You’ll need to move fluidly between writing launch copy, talking to users, crafting strategy, and enabling sales—all while keeping our messaging sharp and differentiated.
You don’t need to be a security expert, but familiarity with the application security space—or deep empathy for the people in it—is important. You’ll be our voice to a community that values substance, technical clarity, and credibility.
This is an IC-heavy role to start, with the opportunity to grow the team as we scale. If you’re excited by the idea of building the product marketing function from scratch, this one’s for you.
What You'll Do
Define and evolve XBOW’s positioning, messaging, and narrative for a technical security audience
Own and drive product launches end-to-end—from messaging to content to internal enablement
Collaborate closely with engineering and product to deeply understand what we’re building and why it matters
Create high-impact assets—decks, one-pagers, blog posts, demos, landing pages—to support sales and marketing
Get hands-on with early customers and users to gather insights, sharpen messaging, and shape the roadmap
Represent XBOW at key security and developer conferences—whether speaking, networking, or supporting the team on the ground—to help shape and amplify our voice in the community.
Support sales and partnerships with the right materials to tell the XBOW story
Establish core product marketing rhythms (e.g. launch calendar, messaging docs, feedback loops)
Who You Are
Strong product marketing experience in application security, developer tooling, cybersecurity, or technical SaaS environment
Fluent in the needs and mindset of security professionals or developers—can write and speak with technical credibility
Comfortable operating as a team of one while the function is in its early stages
Excellent writer and communicator—you can turn complexity into clarity
Bias for action, strong ownership, and a love of early-stage ambiguity
A collaborative operator who loves jumping between strategy and execution
Bonus Points
Advanced Education: An MBA or advanced degree in computer science.
Offensive Security Background: Hands-on experience in offensive security / appsec is a strong plus.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in multiple programming languages.
Experience launchingAI-driven or technically complex products
Startup or founding team experience
What We Offer
Compensation & Equity: Competitive salary and a generous equity package, making you a true owner of the company.
Career Growth: Build and shape the product marketing function with the opportunity to grow a team over time.
Meaningful Work: You’ll define how we go to market, shape the product narrative, and play a critical role in how the world understands our mission.
What Else You Should Know
Location: US (Remote, New York, San Francisco). All team members are remote but we meet regularly and you’re supported to travel to collaborate with colleagues in person.
Contract: Full-time
Hiring Process:
30-min introductory chat
30 minutes with each of our leadership team
Case-based working session
30-min final meeting with our CEO and founder, Oege de Moor
We use AI every day — it’s baked into how we build and sell. But when it comes to this job, we’re looking for someone who leads with curiosity, empathy, and real perspective. If that’s you, we’d love to talk.
We believe in people who are driven by curiosity and a willingness to learn. Even if you don’t check every box, we encourage you to apply if you’re excited about the role and our mission.
Safe Remote Job Search Tips
Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
