Harbor is looking for a Senior Analyst, Competitive Intelligence to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of CI Operations, Analysts help colleagues and clients uncover and collect information, analyze and curate findings, and produce several types of research reports to support our clients’ strategic needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing competitor and market profiles, conducting business analysis and research (financial, strategic, competitive), synthesizing and contextualizing data, collaborating with the client, and researching and editing daily market intelligence briefings.
Analysts work to achieve operational targets within the CI team. This includes individual utilization metrics, meeting client deadlines, and other tasks as directed, as outlined below. This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in the USA.
Qualifications:
The Analyst role requires theoretical and tacit knowledge typically obtained through advanced education, usually in the form of an undergraduate university degree or equivalent experience.
Analysts typically support senior analysts or leaders with client or internal work but may be given their assignments depending on business needs. Harbor places a high value on teamwork, client-centric mindsets, intellectual curiosity, energy, and integrity.
Successful candidates must have some working knowledge of a variety of information products and the successful candidate must be proficient in a variety of information products and tools. A strong interest in business strategy is essential. Experience and/or education in research, business, journalism, professional services, government (policy), or intelligence is an asset. Candidates should have a sharp eye for detail; a good sense of relevance; and the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Requirements:
- Two to five years of research or similar experience, including in fields such as product management, financial analysis, business analysis
- Demonstrate strong reading, writing and editing skills
- Essential technology skills: Use of the Internet, online tools, Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Post-secondary degree preferred, in subjects including:
- Business, journalism, marketing, financial analysis or research
- Law or legal studies
- Social sciences
- Psychology
- Information sciences
- Familiarity with sector-specific sources/tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, Pitchbook, etc.) would be considered a plus
- Possess a strong knowledge of aspects of web-based content
- Ability to produce written reports and create presentations, including the ability to quickly summarize information and format reports for aesthetic purposes
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Comfort level with a deadline-driven environment (efficiency, prioritizing requests, etc.)
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Strong initiative, innovative and creative skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic collaboration and delegation
- Language requirements: A high level of proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
