Job Description

About CookUnity

Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 35 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.

Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.

If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.

The Team:

The Supply Tech Team plays a critical role within CookUnity’s ChefOS Zone, where we build chef and operations-focused software solutions that power our platform. We are the backbone of CookUnity’s product catalog, ensuring every meal and ingredient is accurately defined, maintained, and seamlessly integrated with other core services.

Beyond catalog management, our team drives menu planning—helping chefs craft exceptional culinary experiences—while also managing the integration of on-premise printing systems to generate precise and efficient meal labels. Our work directly impacts how meals move from concept to creation, making us a key player in the seamless execution of CookUnity’s supply chain.

The Role:

We are looking for a solid cross language Backend Engineer with a cloud architecture vision that helps us build and maintain all of the tools and processes required to provide support to Chef OS, our solution for internal operations.

Some of the best Chefs in America will be your close collaborators! Not only CookUnity's "rising stars" but also the well-known Chefs we've partnered with this year as part of our Creators Club (Pierre Thiam, Esther Choi, JJ Johnson, Ali Maffucci, Marc Forgione, Einat Admony, and more!).

Our Tech Stack:

Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript. Desirable: Kotlin

Frameworks: ReactJS, Redux, Apollo GraphQL, NestJS, NextJS, Micronaut (Kotlin)

Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redis, DataDog, Segment

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
