About the Role
The dbt Community is one of the most vibrant, global communities in data — and we’re looking for a Senior Community Program Manager to help us scale it sustainably and effectively. In this role, you’ll work across the entire community team, co-owning the roadmap and building the repeatable systems that power our programs, events, and digital surfaces.
You’ll partner closely with the Head of Community and DX to set quarterly goals and strategic direction, then lead the operational execution to bring them to life. You’ll also work directly with other community team members — helping programatize their work, spin up new initiatives, and unblock as needed. Whether it’s scaling a global meetup program, launching a new engagement surface, or optimizing an existing workflow, your job is to make our work more effective, scalable, and measurable.
This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role for someone who knows how to connect vision with execution — and who cares deeply about community as a craft.
Location: Remote-friendly, United States or Canada (New York or San Francisco preferred)
What You’ll Do
- Co-develop quarterly roadmaps with the Head of Community & DX, aligned to annual strategy
- Oversee and support the execution of core community programs — both those you run directly and those led by other team members
- Build repeatable, scalable systems that power everything from meetups to contributor programs to digital platforms
- Act as a leadership presence within the community team — helping unblock, guide, and programatize the work of peers
- Serve as a central nexus point between our community team, program initiatives, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and other teams to ensure community efforts are aligned, supported, and impactful
- Partner with internal data and operations teams to define success metrics, build dashboards, and report on program health
- Own the day-to-day orchestration of the community roadmap — ensuring programs are staffed, sequenced, and progressing as planned
Who You Are
- 5–7 years experience building and scaling community, marketing or other operational programs in tech, ideally in data or developer-facing orgs
- Deep operational skillset — you know how to spin up, run, and scale multi-part programs with a systems mindset
- Experienced working across hybrid formats — digital programs, global in-person activations, and everything in between
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and serving as a strategic bridge to external stakeholders
- Strong in ambiguity and detail: you can navigate shifting priorities while keeping programs moving forward
- Data-aware and outcome-oriented: you know how to define and track what matters
- A generous teammate: kind, collaborative, and invested in the growth of those around you
Nice to Have
- Experience in analytics, infrastructure, or open-source communities
- Familiarity with dbt (or eagerness to learn it quickly)
- Comfortable using or helping shape internal tooling (CRMs, dashboards, Airtable, etc.)
- Background in building or supporting systems for community contributions, support, or education
Benefits
- Unlimited vacation time with a culture that actively encourages time off
- 401k
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage
- Generous paid parental leave
- Health & wellness stipend
- Flexible stipends for:
- Home office setup
- Learning and development
- Office space
- And more

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
