Job Description
Senior Data Scientist
Location: Remote (U.S.-based preferred)
About Us
We’re a fast-moving healthcare startup focused on improving care for Medicaid patients with complex needs. Our small data team drives clinical insight, operational strategy, and real-world impact. From modeling patient risk to evaluating care team effectiveness, we believe thoughtful data work can change lives.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Data Scientist to help us unlock insights across the entire analytics stack — from transforming raw data in Snowflake and dbt, to modeling outcomes, to building dashboards that guide clinical teams and company strategy.
You’ll report directly to our Head of Data and work closely with both product and clinical teams. This is a highly collaborative IC role with high visibility and room to grow.
What You’ll Do
- Own analytics projects end-to-end — scoping, modeling, and delivering insights
- Build and maintain dbt models and Looker dashboards
- Work with clinicians and product leaders to define metrics and answer key questions
- Apply statistical and ML methods to problems like churn, engagement, and patient risk
- Contribute to observational study designs and research output
- Help shape the future of our data science practice
You Might Work On
- Modeling patient disengagement to reduce churn
- Evaluating the impact of new care outreach programs
- Developing a risk score to prioritize high-need patients
- Supporting a journal submission with cohort analysis and stats
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5 years in data science, analytics, or similar roles
- Strong SQL and experience with dbt or similar tools
- Proficient in Python or R (both is a plus)
- Strong communicator who can bridge technical and clinical teams
- Curious, scrappy, thoughtful — and excited to work in a startup
- Healthcare experience is a big plus, but not required
Why Join Us
- Mission-driven work that improves real lives
- High ownership, high-impact role
- Smart, supportive teammates who love solving hard problems
- A culture that values rigor, empathy, and action
Because We Value You
- Competitive salary: $140,000-$190,000
- Equity compensation package
- Flexible vacation policy – take the time you need to recharge
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) through Guideline
- 100% company-sponsored short and long-term disability and life insurance
- Subsidized backup childcare and caregiver supports through Wellthy
- Work entirely from the comfort of your own home
- Monthly $100 work from home expense stipend
- We provide the equipment needed for the role
- Opportunity for rapid career progression with plenty of room for personal growth!
- FOR TRAVEL ROLES ONLY: Travel reimbursements for your on-site engagement days

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
