We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Travel Management Engineering group, which is responsible for the post-checkout experience - organizing, tracking, and optimizing business travel once it’s been booked. This includes managing multiple squads focused on trip visibility, reporting, trends, configuration, and systems integration (e.g., HRIS, expense). You’ll oversee a total group size of ~20 and growing. The ideal candidate has experience leading multiple cross-functional teams across web and mobile surfaces and is comfortable operating at the intersection of product, infrastructure, and strategic business impact. This is a high-leverage area for Engine, with strong executive visibility and significant opportunities to drive measurable business value.
Your Mission:

- Lead a high-performing engineering team by driving collaboration, growth, and accountability. Set clear goals, provide strategic direction, and develop talent to ensure long-term success.
- Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle of engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and technical excellence. Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical initiatives with business objectives while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and scalability.
- Drive efficiency through agile methodologies and engineering best practices, continuously refining workflows, tools, and processes. Use key performance metrics to measure success and optimize team productivity.
- Act as the bridge between engineering and other teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities. Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for business stakeholders and leadership.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating innovative solutions that enhance product development and business growth. Advocate for new tools and strategies that drive efficiency, scalability, and long-term technical success.
What You’ll Bring to Engine:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a management role. Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team-building abilities with a focus on driving performance and results. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Tech-Savvy: Strong technical foundation with expertise in at least one of TypeScript/Node.js, Java/Kotlin, or Ruby on Rails, plus experience working with AWS and Datadog.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Mindset: Deep understanding of agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.). A strategic and results-driven approach to engineering and team leadership. Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset.
