About the Team

At Stitch Fix, our Warehouse team is a group of Engineers, Operations Researchers, and Data Scientists responsible for end-to-end software support of Stitch Fix’s operations. We believe in a curiosity-driven tech culture where members have autonomy to deliver impact through end-to-end, full-stack product development and ownership. The diversity of the problems that we work on and the data-rich environment of our business make it possible, even essential, to bring the tools of multiple disciplines to bear on our hardest problems.

The Warehouse Technology team powers Stitch Fix’s most client-centric and personalized shopping experience by digitally orchestrating the warehouse floor — ensuring real-time inventory accuracy, efficient movement from receiving to shipping, and boundless personalization in every order. We strengthen our foundation with high-performing, scalable systems that enable access to awesome merchandise, deliver exceptional service, and unlock new revenue opportunities. We are looking for a senior contributor to help us more holistically meet this vision.

About the Role

As a technical lead on the team, you will focus on development and roadmapping against key application enhancements to support floor efficiency, accuracy, and system reliability. You will provide expertise in both industry best practices as well as our software stack, providing a software development blueprint against warehouse functions receiving through shipping. You will mentor more junior engineers, modeling both care and ambition in driving impact to the business. You will work closely with industrial engineers, floor managers, and other operations partners to define end-to-end strategies to meet a variety of goals:

  • Engendering a resilient and accountable warehouse system supporting uninterrupted operations
  • Ensuring comprehensive visibility into warehouse operations and precise ingestion of new merchandise
  • Supporting a fully directed, efficient fulfillment flow, that can scale independently of cost
  • Providing flexibility to support any combination of order lines, fulfillment timing, packaging, and inserts to deliver personalized shopping experiences to our clients
  • Enabling fast and accurate returns and refunds, maintaining client trust in our product
  • Ensuring every order ships fast and right

This team has considerable opportunity for impact, by combining a deep focus on ensuring a client-right approach to warehouse management with smart, active processes to increase business efficiency and unit margin.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Build tight relationships between enthusiastic partners in varied disciplines of industrial, software, and operations research engineering, owning end-to-end hardware to cloud solutions.
  • Solution at high speed with a small, agile team of coworkers to produce outsized impact on the business.
  • Showcase your ability to solution in a system with high-uptime requirements.
  • Have the autonomy to identify and roadmap unaddressed problems in the business and their impact, as well as offer new, improved solutions to existing challenges.
  • Take a leading role in prioritization and sequencing to drive the best value for our clients and stakeholders.
  • Apply your understanding of systems design, engineering for resiliency, and thinking in tradeoffs across a multidisciplinary team of hardware, application, and machine learning engineers.
  • Be exposed to a wide-open field of opportunity for impact with plenty of challenges to make your own.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5-8 years of software engineering experience.
  • You drive for resiliency. You take a principled approach to complexity, and can make smart bets on where to invest time and system burden for maximum business impact.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders about complex technical topics.
  • You’re curious about what’s happening outside your immediate sphere and how you can leverage insights elsewhere inside the domains you own.
  • You’re happiest as a team player, looking for highest impact across the stack and ready to contribute to team and corporate priorities wherever you find them.
  • You have extensive experience sizing, building, delivering, and supporting software products in a production environment, preferably in Ruby/Rails and Go.
  • You have past experience building or integrating against new Warehouse Management Systems.
  • You bring a comfort with data (SQL, data skepticism and hygiene) to support and co-own decisions.

Why you'll love working at Stitch Fix...

  • We are a group of bright, kind people who are motivated by challenge. We value integrity, innovation and trust. You’ll bring these characteristics to life in everything you do at Stitch Fix.
  • We cultivate a community of diverse perspectives— all voices are heard and valued.
  • We are an innovative company and leverage our strengths in fashion and tech to disrupt the future of retail.
  • We win as a team, commit to our work, and celebrate grit together because we value strong relationships.
  • We boldly create the future while keeping equity and sustainability at the center of all that we do.
  • We are the owners of our work and are energized by solving problems through a growth mindset lens. We think broadly and creatively through every situation to create meaningful impact.
  • We offer comprehensive compensation packages and inclusive health and wellness benefits.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
