Job Description

OUR MISSION

Imagine building a better healthcare journey for patients with cancer, where individuals and their loved ones feel seen, supported, and heard by their care team – both in and out of the clinic. Where fast access to high-quality care is the norm, not the exception. Where patients have access to a care navigator to guide them through their diagnosis and trusted support all along the way.

At Thyme Care, we share a passion for transforming the cancer care experience – not just for patients but also for their caregivers and loved ones, as well as those delivering and paying for their care. Today, Thyme Care is known predominantly as a cancer care navigation company enabling value-based cancer care; in the next few years, we will become a nationally recognized technology-driven and provider-centric care delivery model, reshaping the landscape of cancer care access, delivery, and experience. Our commitment runs deep—we're not satisfied with the status quo but determined to redefine it.

To make this happen, we’re building a diverse team of problem solvers and critical thinkers to drive innovation and shape the future of healthcare. If you share our vision and want to be part of something truly meaningful, we want to hear from you. Together, we can revolutionize cancer care and make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Senior Platform Engineer, AI at Thyme Care, you will join a team focused on building a best-in-class developer experience that enables our engineers and data scientists to deliver features that drive high-quality interventions for our members with cancer. You’ll play a key role in supporting our growing set of AI-driven capabilities, ensuring our infrastructure can support the secure and efficient deployment of models across the platform. While your focus will be on AI features, you’ll also contribute to broader platform work, including maintaining our Kubernetes clusters, AWS resources, and developer tooling.

  • Architect and maintain scalable, secure, and observable pipelines for implementing, testing, and deploying web applications, workflows, and LLM-based services in production environments.

  • Operationalize AI features by building infrastructure that supports monitoring, performance tuning, feedback loops, model versioning, and safe rollouts.

  • Collaborate deeply with cross-functional teams, including oncology experts, product managers, vCISO, and other engineers, to translate fast-evolving care challenges into intelligent, AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Build developer tooling and interfaces that allow engineers and domain experts to experiment, test, and deploy features (including LLM workflows) with minimal friction and maximal safety.

  • Integrate Amazon Bedrock into our infrastructure while ensuring compliance with healthcare security and privacy standards.

  • Enable structured evaluations of model behavior, including bias detection, failure analysis, and user feedback integration, to drive iterative improvement.

  • Champion observability and reproducibility—ensuring that every AI feature is trackable, auditable, and aligned with Care Team needs.

  • Contribute to a high-trust, collaborative engineering culture, mentoring others and helping shape the future of AI-powered oncology care.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You’ve worked in fast-paced, early stage environments. You’re comfortable iterating quickly to ship MVPs, and you know how to take a project from a loosely scoped idea to a fully realized feature.
  • You’ve built and scaled LLM-driven systems in production, and you understand the unique needs of AI feature lifecycle management.
  • You have strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (we use Terraform), CI/CD (we use Github Actions), and service observability (we use Datadog and PagerDuty).
  • You’ve deployed and managed infrastructure in AWS.
  • You’ve used Python in a professional context (we use it for scripting, DevEx tools, and to deploy applications to Kubernetes using cdk8s).
  • You have comfort using an observability stack to monitor features once they hit production, troubleshooting any issues that arise.

WHAT LEADS TO SUCCESS

Strong engineering foundation. You bring production-grade engineering skills—writing maintainable code, building test coverage, setting SLAs, and deploying to a cloud environment using infrastructure-as-code.
Self-directed learning and team-wide teaching. You’re comfortable independently keeping up with the fast-changing ecosystem of foundation models and AI tooling and sharing new, relevant ideas and best practices with the team.
Security & compliance awareness. You have a thorough understanding of the distinct risks associated with managing sensitive health data and deploying AI systems within regulated sectors.
Tooling mindset. You build infrastructure with users in mind—whether they’re engineers, data scientists, or clinical team members—and prioritize reliability and simplicity.
Pragmatic approach to AI. You are driven by problems, not solutions. You prioritize solving the most important problems in the simplest way possible. You know when to reach for LLMs as a solution and when to prefer simpler programmatic approaches.
Mission-first thinking. You care deeply about human-centered AI and building systems that support—not replace—the judgment, empathy, and expertise of care teams.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
