Job Description

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients, including one in every county in the United States, and in 98% of primary care deserts.

Ro has been recognized as a Fortune Best Workplace in New York and Health Care for four consecutive years (2021-2024). In 2023, Ro was also named Best Workplace for Parents for the third year in a row. In 2022, Ro was listed as a CNBC Disruptor 50.

The healthcare system today is not designed to help patients achieve their goals. It’s designed around institutions such as hospitals and insurance companies. A patient centric healthcare system is one that is designed around the goals a patient wants to achieve. That’s exactly what Ro’s product design team is focused on building: goal-oriented healthcare. We’re building healthcare that puts patients in control, provides reactive and proactive care, has transparent pricing and process, is extremely effective and ridiculously convenient, and evolves over time based on patients’ goals.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join a team working on patient-facing surfaces, responsible for pioneering the way people access medication and understand their progression towards their health goals. You’ll work side-by-side with other designers as well as product management, engineering, and clinical teams to design experiences of significant scope, complexity, and creative vision.

As we head into the end of the year, we’re focused on designing for scale—elevating both our systems and experiences. We're looking for designers who can thrive in a dynamic environment, get equally excited by small improvements and large strategic swings, and learn quickly in a complex, evolving ecosystem. Ideal candidates are flexible in the face of shifting priorities, understand and navigate technical complexities in close partnership with product and engineering, and deeply value both the craft and magic of interaction design.

We are a passionate group of designers who are empowered to make impactful decisions, owning all aspects of the design process across multiple surfaces. You’ll grow as our mission advances and our experiences become more sophisticated. This is an exciting opportunity to join a late-stage organization in a category ripe with limitless possibilities, a leadership team that fights for the patient, and a team that is excited to welcome a new design partner. Our organizational structure empowers designers to think holistically, not just in narrow, feature-specific lanes. Here, your voice will not only be heard—it will be expected. You won’t just be included; you’ll be fundamental.

Design matters at Ro because healthcare requires trust and people trust well-crafted experiences. Here’s how you’ll contribute:
  • Own every aspect of the product design process from facilitating user research, creating UX concepts and visual design explorations that solve jobs to be done, designing user stories, all the way through to product release
  • Develop a deep understanding of our users and their needs through qualitative and quantitative studies
  • Partner with your Design Manager, Product, Engineering, and Clinical to distill complex scopes into manageable deliverables, experiments, and releases
  • Make informed decisions that balance business goals, patient insights, and product requirements into world-class experiences that are as enjoyable to use as they are impactful
  • Incorporate data and feedback from our users and stakeholders across the organization to iterate on designs
  • Leverage, improve, and elevate our visual language and design system
  • Maintain our high-standard for UX and visual design excellence
  • Advocate on behalf of our patients, visually and verbally to help galvanize the organization through patient-centric thinking

It takes a special designer to truly want to change healthcare. Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience shipping high impact and successful digital products across mobile and web at consumer-facing/focused products and brands
  • Ability to learn quickly and design effectively within a complex, regulated, and interconnected ecosystem
  • Experienced in working in a rapid release environment that partners closely with product managers, engineering, and data
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially when navigating technical constraints with product and engineering partners
  • Comfort with shifting priorities as the product and patient landscape evolves
  • Design maturity in setting UX vision and explaining rationale behind design decisions with a strong problem orientation
  • Systems thinking, UX and visual design skillsAn appreciation for both the polish of micro-interactions and the momentum of major platform-level improvements
  • A track record of driving impact through designing of features and epics successfully, as evidenced by an up-to-date portfolio or collection of work
  • A pattern of curiosity, skill development, and increases in scope over time

We've Got You Covered
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance + OneMedical membership
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible PTO
  • Wellbeing + Learning & Growth reimbursements
  • Paid parental leave + Fertility benefits
  • Pet insurance
  • Student loan refinancing
  • Virtual resources for mindfulness, counseling, and fitness

We welcome qualified candidates of all races, creeds, genders, and sexuality to apply.

The target base salary for this position ranges from $164,900 - $198,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
