About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop multiple new products from the ground up, tailored for various Instacart partners such as retailers and brands. Your role will involve shaping the product vision alongside close collaboration with end customers and the product team. Additionally, you will enhance the architectural framework to increase delivery speed and facilitate swift product development. You will also implement new processes to boost operational excellence, making use of AI tools to accelerate development. Furthermore, you will mentor a team of 5-8 engineers, supporting their professional growth and development.
About the Team
The Fulfillment organization at Instacart is responsible for all aspects of the order life cycle, both for full-service orders picked by Instacart shoppers and orders backed by Instacart’s white-label integration with retail partners.
Overview of the Fulfillment teams that are currently hiring
Delivery Team: The Delivery team is a full-stack team that handles the Instacart shopper’s experience after in-store checkout through dropping off the order at a customer’s address. We own the navigational process and all aspects of the handoff experience, including surfaces like customer geolocation, identity verification, handling unattended deliveries, and returns. Our primary goal is to optimize for perfect deliveries that are facilitated on time and without interruption, and we contribute to the company’s overall growth by driving additional profit on each order.
- Develop and implement core platform solutions for pioneering product launches that revolutionize the digital grocery landscape.
- Define and advance a three-year technological vision to enhance innovation and platform scalability.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to generate impactful ideas and insights.
- Analyze and refine our architecture to propose new systems that improve delivery and operational excellence.
- Establish new standards to improve the engineering quality of partner-centric products.
- Employ advanced AI toolsets to accelerate development processes.
- Mentor and nurture a team of engineers, promoting a culture of growth and excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Expertise in drafting vision and design documents.
- Strong proficiency in maintaining high standards for production services.
- Rapid coding skills and management of high-traffic production services.
- Experience engaging directly with product teams and customers.
- Proven ability to mentor a team, influencing a group of 5+ engineers.
