Description
About Reserv
Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike.
We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can’t wait to meet you.
About the role
As a full stack engineer at Reserv, you'll be at the heart of our growth journey, shaping the future of our technology and platform. You are a passionate engineer with strong backend skills, and the desire to build high-quality, scalable, and maintainable applications. You thrive on bringing user stories to life, delivering exceptional end-to-end experiences. Collaboration is key at Reserv, and we value team members who are eager to work cross-functionally and drive innovation. If you're excited about molding the future of our product and making a lasting impact, we want you on our team. Join us on this exciting journey to revolutionize the industry!
Who you are
- Highly motivated and growth-oriented. You're always looking to learn, hone your craft, and take on new challenges.
- Demonstrated fluency with modern technologies. You have strong back-end experience in any high-level language (e.g., Ruby, Python, Node.js) and are comfortable working with (or learning) TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Next.js, React, or GraphQL to deliver end-to-end features.
- Experienced with communicating and collaborating across functions to proactively drive solutions.
- Eager to learn about the insurance claims industry and positively impact the people involved.
What we need
We need you to do all the things typical to the role:
- Work with our tech stack: Ruby/Ruby on Rails, React, Typescript, and others when needed
- Help distill the core interactions a customer of Reserv will need to be successful in using our product, from the homepage, to the developer dashboard, to documentation centers and SDKs
- Ship frontend and backend components that improve the Reserv product experience
- Commit on your first day, and deploy code continuously
- As we scale our product & engineering teams, collaborate closely with our product ops, design, and sales teams, as well as mentor junior engineers
- Communicate ideas and specifications through detailed, precise writing
- Influence the culture, values, and processes of a growing engineering team
- Enjoy and have fun being creative and thinking outside of the box. You will need to draw on analogous situations you’ve worked on before, but we are not traversing well-traveled roads. “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying production-ready software using Ruby (and frameworks such as Ruby on Rails) and some familiarity or willingness to work with modern front-end technologies (React, Typescript) when needed.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable software. We appreciate engineers who explore side projects, contribute to open-source, or publish technical content, demonstrating a passion for continuous learning.
- Deep expertise in backend development. You understand API design, data modeling, performance optimization, and security best practices - while still keeping the user experience in mind.
- Versatility and willingness to learn. You’re primarily focused on the backend, but you’re comfortable stepping into front-end or infrastructure tasks when needed - whether its debugging a React component, fixing a security vulnerability, or helping optimize CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless product experiences.
- Bonus: Ruby (Ruby on Rails), Python, React, Typescript
Benefits
- Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
- Unlimited vacation time with minimum time-off – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
- Generous family leave policy
- Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
- An Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!
At Reserv, we value diversity and believe that a variety of perspectives leads to innovation and success. We are actively seeking candidates who will bring unique perspectives and experiences to our team. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from underrepresented groups to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
Safe Remote Job Search Tips
Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
