About The Role
At SandboxAQ, we operate at the cutting edge of AI/ML and quantum technologies. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a leader providing deep, hands-on technical support to our development teams, ensuring they have the tools, infrastructure, and guidance to succeed. Your role is to drive excellence in development processes, lead infrastructure initiatives, and support teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. This is a senior position where technical acumen and hands-on mentorship are paramount to success.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide and deliver deep, hands-on technical support to developers, acting as a trusted advisor to help optimize workflows, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve development practices
- Architect and maintain scalable infrastructure and development tools to support SandboxAQ’s initiatives
- Build and implement new development tools and infrastructure
- Automate and streamline release and development processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and InfoSec teams to leverage technology effectively while enhancing security and performance
- Drive a culture of excellence by ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery with a focus on scalability and maintainability
- Provide strategic direction to engineering leadership, contributing to long-term infrastructure planning and vision
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior DevOps engineer, or in a senior engineering role, with a focus on deep, hands-on developer support in complex environments
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable systems. Additional experience with GCP or Azure is a big plus.
- Expertise in Git, GitHub workflows, CI/CD (CircleCI) automation, and efficient release pipelines
- Expertise with configuration management tools (Ansible, Saltstack, Chef, Puppet)
- Expertise in Linux systems, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience integrating them into development processes
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset for working across cross-functional teams
- Experience orchestrating a fleet of physical devices (IoT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Location on the West Coast or the Mountain Time zone.
- Experience in supporting both traditional software development and machine learning/data science environments
- MedTech industry experience.
- Proven ability to manage regulated data and ensure security and compliance
- Experience with traceability for regulatory compliance (i.e. CFR 21 Guidelines) using CloudTrail.
- In-depth understanding of cloud and network topologies with hands-on experience using tools as Tailscale, Sumologic, etc. to support highly distributed systems
- Experience with observability and incident management processes, and tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.
- Experience with Cloud Asset Management and Inventory
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $154k-$256k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
