The Business Development team at Pinterest is responsible for developing partner strategy, as well as sourcing, evaluating, executing and managing partnerships that are a critical lever for growth and progress of the company against key strategic initiatives. The team works closely with senior leadership, product, marketing, legal and sales teams to deliver these partnerships.
The Sr. Business Development Lead will own a broad scope of activities across Commerce initiatives, Content Acquisition, and Content Distribution. Key responsibilities include: developing partnership strategy, identifying first-in-kind deals and programs, negotiating complex agreements, launching new products and programs, and managing partnerships. This position will report to the Director and Global Head of Business Development for Content and Commerce. The role will be hybrid with some time in the office and remote.
What you’ll do:
- Create the partner strategy for Content and Commerce initiatives, including translating trends and insights from the industry landscape to identify opportunities for partnership
- Lead the process of identifying partnerships to pursue, including building the business case through strategic and financial analysis and due diligence
- Negotiate complex deals
- Build productive relationships with leaders at emerging and established companies
- Lead deal execution and partner management across relevant internal teams including product, engineering, legal, marketing and sales
- Serve as advocate for resourcing and support for partnerships with senior executives at the company
- What is unique about the role:
- Broad scope across Commerce initiatives, Content Acquisition, and Content Distribution.
- Opportunity to own all business development responsibilities including: developing partnership strategy, identifying first-in-kind deals and programs, negotiating complex agreements, launching new products and programs, and managing partnerships. (i.e. an interesting balance of creating net new business development opportunities and managing existing partnerships)
- Pinterest is in a stage of business transformation, in which partnerships play a key role. Position will have great opportunity to make an impact and engage with senior executives at the company, particularly because this set of partnerships are critical to Pinterest’s strategic goals such as increasing the shoppability of the user experience.
What we’re looking for:
- 8+ years experience in the online ad tech industry
- 8+ year experience in product partnerships, including some experience leading scaled partnership programs
- Experience working at a large scaled social or e-commerce platform company
- Experience negotiating complex partnerships deals
- Experience with performing quantitative business analysis, e.g. management consulting, investment banking, business analytics, business operations or strategy
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
