Job Description

The Network Security Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers via the phone, ticketing system, and automation. This role owns complex customer issues, which may take several days or weeks to resolve, and keeps our customers updated through every step of the process.

Work Location: If located within 60 miles of a Rackspace office, we'd like for you to work in the office twice a week remotely the rest of the week. If not located near one of our offices, you may work 100% remotely.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Take initiative and advise on potential pitfalls that a customer may encounter and suggest alternatives through automation, which may better serve the stability and security of the customer's solution.
  • Troubleshoot customer network environments including firewall configurations, VPN technologies and access-control lists, VIP configurations, TCL (iRule) and Perl scripts, layer 4 through 7 issues.
  • Support many elements of the Rackspace Cloud product portfolio, including RackConnect.
  • Adhere to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.
  • Build, secure, and maintain our multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. Ensure secure connectivity, rapid troubleshooting, and infrastructure scalability while supporting key initiatives like the Public Cloud Edge Security Service (PCESS).
  • Prevent security gaps, maintain operational efficiency, and ensure continued innovation in multi-cloud networking and edge security.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and handle escalations for Firewalls & Load Balancers, Windows/Linux system administration, or Cloud Native Tooling.
  • Create documentation for support and operations tasks regarding the above tools
  • Mentor and train junior Rackers.
  • Configure, plan, install, maintain, and optimize network systems, equipment, and applications, ensuring network protocols and security policies are used effectively.
  • Solve engineering problems through the ownership of level-appropriate customer requests and issues, seeing them through to resolution.
  • Design, schedule, and coordinate maintenance.
  • Engineer and implement customized security solutions.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to build strong customer relationships.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers on the support floor.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight years’ successful experience as a NetSec Engineer.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a field related to the role. At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree requirement.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of customer service management and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer retention (CRM).
  • Must have experience with… AI/Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, DevOps Coding Skills, and Network/Systems Skills.

Background Investigation
  • This role will be supporting Government Customers and new hires will undergo an FBI Background investigation- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).



The following information is required by pay transparency legislation in the following states: CA, CO, HI, NY, and WA. This information applies only to individuals working in these states.

·The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $105,100 - $154,110.

·The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $111,800 - $164,010.

·The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $122,500 - $179,630.

Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.#LI-MF1 #LI-Remote
