About this role
Much like our traditional Project Manager role, we are looking for exceptional communicators with experience in data operations, data science, or AI research, who are interested in leading our key AI projects! Unlike the traditional Project Manager, as aTechnical Project Manager you will combine your project management skills with a solid understanding of database systems, backend processes, and software development. In addition to overseeing and coordinating project execution, collaborating with Pareto clients, project stakeholders, and workers to continuously improve product offerings and processes, you will also own much of the data handling and modeling associated with our data delivery projects. This is a long-term, fully remote role.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Oversee and manage the lifecycle of projects, ensuring timely collection and delivery of data for AI training and research.
Identify and understand customer business goals and needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
Maintain clear, transparent communication with peers and stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and blockers.
Ensure customer satisfaction and growth of customer accounts.
Technical Expertise:
Understand and participate in backend system development and data modeling processes.
Provide guidance on database normalization and structuring.
Write and review advanced SQL queries and ensure database optimization.
Handle tasks related to data cleaning, data munging, and data visualization using SQL and basic Python, if applicable.
Tool Usage:
Efficiently manage and analyze data volumes exceeding 1 million rows, transitioning from tools like Google Sheets or Excel when needed.
Use tools likelabelstud.io for data labeling, which involves basic HTML knowledge.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Collaborate with team members across various roles, embodying the flexibility and adaptability typical of startup environments.
Engage in community activities and required meetings to enhance processes and outcomes.
What you’ll need:
Proven experience in project management, ideally in a technical or software development context.
Advanced knowledge of SQL for writing queries for larger volumes of data (~ 1 million rows)
Solid understanding of data modeling (e.g. normalization)
Experience with Google Sheets and/or Excel for data cleaning and handling
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, engaging stakeholders at all levels with clarity and confidence.
Demonstrate systematic and analytical problem-solving skills, capable of overseeing complex projects from inception to completion.

You’ll really stand out if you have:
Have experience with data labeling, data annotation, and/or AI training.
Hands-on experience with software engineering or website development.
Use Python for data handling
Basic knowledge of HTML or XML (e.g. familiarity with developing simple web pages)
Background in Quality Assurance for data-related projects or business analysis.
Experience with Postgres (our relational database of choice)
Knowledge on how to code and utilize Javascript or AppScript in sheets for creating automations and integrations
