Job Description

A mission-driven startup redefining adolescent and young adult health by building an emotionally intelligent, digital-first care experience. Their platform combines virtual care, peer support, AI-powered assistance, and community-driven design to create a safe, engaging, and resonant environment. They focus on creating brands that feel approachable, relatable, and social media savvy, offering a direct, "on-your-phone-centric" experience.

Location:
Work-from-home, full-time, 9 AM - 5 PM EST

What You'll Drive

  • Behavioral Design & Flow: Lead the design of seamless, captivating user flows and prototypes for mobile-first (iOS focus) and web-based applications, focusing on psychological engagement and behavioral shifts.

  • Youth-Centric Visual Storytelling: Create high-fidelity UI designs that are visually groundbreaking, accessible, and authentically resonate with teen and young adult aesthetics, moving beyond conventional telehealth.

  • Micro-Interaction & Gamification Mastery: Infuse life into the user experience through animations and micro-interactions, designing gamification elements (progress bars, badges, avatars) that encourage participation and build intrinsic motivation.

  • Systemic Brand Experience: Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems and style guides, ensuring brand consistency and a cohesive narrative across products.

  • Iterative & Empathetic Research: Conduct user research and usability testing, embracing rapid iteration based on genuine youth insights.

  • Cultural Fluency in Design: Stay ahead of evolving digital design trends resonating with Gen Z and young adults, understanding cultural shifts and how commerce, culture, and social elements intermix.

  • Seamless Execution: Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and clinical advisors, ensuring designs and animations are implemented as intended, providing feedback throughout sprints.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years as a lead UI/UX designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in direct-to-consumer products targeting young audiences.

  • Proven track record in creating immersive, user-centric digital experiences with seamless flows and high-quality visuals across devices.

  • Exceptional proficiency in modern design tools (Figma preferred) and ability to translate artistic vision into functional, engaging products.

  • Deep understanding of behavioral economics and psychology relevant to adolescents and young adults.

  • Expertise in creating animations and micro-interactions (e.g., After Effects, Figma Smart Animate, Lottie JSON).

  • Strong grasp of accessibility standards and user-centered design principles.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate design rationale and advocate for user needs.

  • Passion for creating inclusive, safe, and delightful experiences fostering well-being and intentional engagement.

Bonus Points

  • Experience designing mobile platforms for D2C brands in healthcare and outside healthcare.

  • Knowledge of front-end frameworks, developer handoff best practices, and design-to-code workflows.

  • Experience in startup environments requiring agility, rapid iteration, and a "figure it out" mentality.
