Job Description

Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About this team and role:

Mozilla’s mission is to champion the value of the internet as a global public resource. To realize the Mozilla Manifesto, we need global laws and policies in support of (1) our open source products and technologies (2) consumer interests and (3) an open and diverse tech ecosystem. Do you like working on big-picture problems? Join us to influence the future of tech policy!

We are looking for a US Public Policy & Government Relations Manager to join our dynamic Global Policy team to support Mozilla’s work.

In this role, you will engage with government stakeholders, industry partners, and civil society, advocating for public policy positions that align with our mission and support responsible innovation in technology. You will be the voice of the company in key policy discussions and play a critical role in building relationships with policymakers and regulatory bodies. You will also collaborate with our internal product and engineering teams to provide expert advice on public policy implications related to the rollout of new products.

This is a high-impact role for someone who understands both the technical landscape and the policymaking process—and who wants to help build a better internet.

As this role involves working with multiple partners across teams, geographies and Mozilla entities, strong project management and organisational skills will be essential.

What you'll do:
  • Engage with U.S. policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy frameworks that support the open web and Mozilla’s product initiatives. Focus on issues including privacy, AI, and market fairness.
  • Represent Mozilla in external forums, industry groups, and other public venues on policy issues, and ensure our views are accurately and effectively communicated.
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate internally about emerging policy issues, regulatory developments, and global trends affecting Mozilla's products and services.
  • Partner with internal team members to collect and analyze public policy developments at the federal and state level.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal collaborators to ensure the integration of public policy considerations in the product development process.
  • Work with colleagues internationally to help form consolidated positions and planning on our top issues.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable policy insights and recommendations.
What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience working on technology policy, preferably in a corporate environment. Experience in AI policy preferred.
  • Deep interest in the impact technology has on people’s lives and the role regulation plays in shaping it.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a track record of effective external representation.
  • Excellent cross-functional skills with experience working with international teams and a variety of collaborators.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high attention to detail, and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Strong policy writing, research, and analysis skills attuned to communicating key information to decision makers.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack, and Zoom.
What you’ll get:
  • Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
  • Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
  • Quarterly all-company wellness days where everyone takes a pause together
  • Country specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Quarterly well-being stipend
  • Considerable paid parental leave
  • Employee referral bonus program

Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc.(varies by country)

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
