Our client is a rapidly growing startup that provides valuable perks and rewards to employees, helping businesses drive engagement and retention at no cost. Their innovative offerings are transforming how companies provide benefits and perks, focusing on making it easier for HR teams to manage and deliver these offerings to their workforce for free. They are backed by tier-1 funds—including Village Global (Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos)—and founded by a second-time founder (Forbes 30 Under 30) who sold his previous company to Lyft (NASDAQ: LYFT).

Location and Time:
Fully Remote (Work from Home), 9 AM - 5 PM CST

Role Overview:
We are looking for a driven and motivated Business Development Representative (BDR) to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for outbound outreach to potential clients, primarily through cold calling, email sequences, and LinkedIn messaging. Your primary goal will be to set qualified appointments through strategic outbound efforts. If you have experience selling to HR teams and are motivated to succeed, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outbound Outreach:

    • Conduct cold calls to potential clients, introducing the client’s services and value propositions.

    • Utilize email sequences and LinkedIn messaging to engage leads and nurture relationships.

    • Qualify leads through thoughtful conversations, identifying potential fits for the services offered.

  • Appointment Setting:

    • Set qualified appointments for the sales team and founder to continue the sales process.

    • Ensure all appointments are with decision-makers and relevant stakeholders within potential client organizations.

  • Lead Management:

    • Manage provided contact lists and ensure proper follow-ups with leads.

    • Maintain accurate records in CRM for tracking communication, appointments, and outcomes.

  • Adaptability & Sales Skills:

    • Quickly adapt to new selling techniques and approaches to ensure the best possible outcomes.

    • Demonstrate a hustler mentality, staying motivated and persistent in reaching your goals.

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, where priorities and timelines may consistently shift.

    • Highly entrepreneurial mindset—being the first employer-focused sales hire on the team, you will be expected to take ownership of the end-to-end sales function.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years of experience in a sales development or lead generation role, with cold calling experience.

    • Experience selling to HR teams or in the HR tech industry is highly preferable.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent verbal communication skills, with a neutral accent that aligns with client preferences.

    • Proficiency in email sequences, LinkedIn messaging, and other outbound sales tactics.

    • Familiarity with CRM systems and pipeline management.

    • Ability to quickly qualify leads and set appointments effectively.

  • Attributes:

    • Highly motivated, with a hustler mentality and a passion for achieving sales targets.

    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage prospects.

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, staying organized and on top of follow-ups.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Consistently meeting or exceeding appointment-setting targets.

  • Building strong relationships with leads and converting them into qualified appointments.

  • Demonstrating persistence and a results-driven mindset, leading to long-term success.

  • Contributing to the overall growth of the sales pipeline and supporting the team in closing deals.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
